If you want it to flow perfect then yeh get the side exit and run it up by the headlight using the TT/LCR charge pipe. Having the side exits and running the set up as it is now would be worse than having the rear exits

thats what im going to do i think, i have a tt charge pipe in the garage but to be honest there is not alot of room for pipework down there cos i have put a mk2 golf washer bottle in for this mod but cant see how the bloke off here rooted his pipes.

Somebody on here did some logs for the ebay cooler and they showed it worked well, thats why i bought one.
I no you cant just go out and buy one on that someone saying its good, but if you compared a laguna cooler with the ebay one (in looks) you can see that the laguna one is so thin and the pipes go in at the back which surly causing a massive restriction! the only thing the laugna one has got going for it, is thats its big.
The ebay cooler is three times thicker than the laugna one the pipes go out ether side so there will be no restriction. and when mounted on the car it would have more cold air hitting it than the lauguna one.
I ran the laugna one and i change to the ebay one and change my exhaust at the sametime and the diffrence was unreal, not only did it pull so much harder and held the boost longer i got an extra 5mph top end out of it.
If you dont want to spend alot of money on a forge or pro alloy one then you dont really have many other options like i didnt and you will have to settle with what you pay for like i did.
i think the cooler will be fine!
Im sure alot of people will give me crap about this post now lol.......o well

Not questioning the ebay one on a k03 or k03s but we aint talking about it goin on either of them, its for the AM04. A better cooler to have would be a wide thin one rather than a short thick one as being spread out it'l cool quicker, this is exactly why radiators are made thin and wide.

If you say the ebay one works well on yours then get some logs up so we can all see what its doing, that'l settle any arguement that may occur (as we kno the ebay ones do)

im runing it on a ko3s hybrid and its fine. where can you get an intercooler thats like a radiator tho for an ibiza, i was comparing the laugna to the ebay one and how restrictive the laugna one is? the laugna one may of worked better if the pipes were on ether end???maybe? im not gonna have an argument about an intercooler i just wanted to put my two pence in as my name was mentioned.

So what can he IF get he doesnt want to buy a forge one or a pro alloy one??? and doesnt what to spend alot of money?? and he already has the laugna one!! myki???

Chris

you took the dimensions of mine when i saw you - get one made up?
buy a TT charge pipe from a scrappy and make up the rest of the pipework yourself

job done :)

simple

yea mate what am saying is the size of the ebay cooler is near enough the same as your's apart from the outlets are 57mm rather than 63mm but if i was using a tt charge pipe would it make a diffrence as that would be 57mm too?

the ebay ones core size is

Width 56cm x Height 14cm x Depth 6.5cm

and yours was

width 54cm height 17cm depth 6.5cm

also your tank bit on the side was 7cm and this is about 6.5cm on the side

so for the price am saying its very simmilar would it be worth havin a custom 1 made up and paying the extra. i could allways just use the cooler its self and get the tt charge pipe and make the rest of the pipe work up.

dont want to get into big arguments about it just after advise on what to do but not spending a fortune, as my intercooler is cooling just want the wg duty to come down. As the cooler is virtually the only difference between mine and daves

i personally think the laguna one is strangling it and the pipework isnt doing much for it either, lots of bends and different sized pipes

my pipework is 2.5" from turbo to throttlebody, all mandrel bent alloy with minimal bends, an exhaust place is probably your best bet for that, or i can speak to my guy and get a price in stainless for you? (no money for me admins btw, just helping him out, he can pay him and pick it up, or il go with him)

Core wise similar to mine (or even bigger) would be good, as long as it doesnt cause lag or strangle the flow or fail to cool your onto a winner (ebay ones do actually cool very well just made cheaply)

just remember when thinking about all this, main things are you want is to flow well and you want it to cool, the cooler the better ovbiously :)

EDIT: remember, bigger isnt always better ;)

chris, id also get your existing setup smoke checked, just to be safe, overlooking something is very easy to do, and for half hour labour your not exactly breaking the bank

whats going to be the final cost tho once you've had a company make you a custom cooler?

i know people go on about the expence of the forge unit! maybe try and get a group buy organised. The guys from awesome took me for a spin in there gt28rs golf with forge cooler and it was making 300+ on there rollers, And felt very rapid.

TT pipework would work very well, and same size as the inlet/outlet on the cooler your looking at, keeping it all one size

That be good if you could find a price for me mate, in stainless as yours did look good. Would you ask about doing all the pipework including the one off the inlet manifold as i guess its the same as the one from the turbo?

Core wise i'll ring Forge and ask them for a price for one with your dimensions, cause then can get the pipework made the same size as yours :)

Im also going to speak to ADS and ask how much it will be.

Thinking about it now if i got a custom cooler i think it would be £260ish and then the pipework for £200ish its not a bad price for a full setup.

You can get intercoolers custom made from forge to pretty much any size you want, which is exactly like i did for mine when i had it, chris knows this and has been speaking to me about it for some time now. The laguna set up was originally tested for the k03 so it was unknown as to how it would cope with a big turbo set up, which a few people have found it not to work.

Im not argueing about it either im merely pointing out that the universal one would need alot more testing before it can be recommended for those running big turbo set ups. The pro alloy ones alot of money, the forge one has also been known to cause problems on the bigger turbos (i.e. Petes) so a custom forge one would be the best solution as your getting excelent built quality and a cooler that will run perfect for the set up
