Definitely take the dash out.... Might want to consider a cage as well if you can find an ex-Rockingham one going cheap. Oh, and some uprated ARBs, and some rear spacers. I did my conversion 3.5 years ago - although I already owned the car. Like you I sourced most of the bits from either the forum or eBay. The ARBs were the only major new purchase as I couldn't find any second hand.

Unless you are going to be happy with just those 2 tracks I'd seriously consider some silencing, as you won't get into six of the tracks I've been to: Castle Combe, Goodwood, Brands Hatch, Bedford, Donnington or Cadwell Park. In fact Lydden Hill and RAF Marham would be the only two with no noise limits that I've been to.

Hope to see you on track sometime. Looks like our cars have pretty similar performance...

hi have seen plenty of pics of your car, can you forward me details for the neuspeed arb's and drop links needed? i also have a set of 16" 16v wheels for it hoping to run toyo r888's but they will be slightly oversized and am waiting to see what spacing i can get in at the back, considering 10mm non hub centric. yes it is quite loud i bought a second hand scorpion system but the back box is so large that it rubs on the rear shock, so came up with the powerflow locally at only £30 but hoping to fit a baffle internally at the rear used to make subarus quieter with a 4.5" tail pipe. Have seen an omp cage @ £229 brand new or do you know better? . Like the mirrors on yours seen in later info looking to change mine soon. You have been to marham, norfolk i live in norfolk whereabouts r u? David.

Yeah, the Neuspeeds are Polo front / Mk3 Golf rear. I got mine from Badger Bill of the forum. The drop link mounts are a set of 90 degree angle bends. I've got mine made out of 5mm steel, 40mm by 30mm, with a 10mm hole to take the mounting bolts. If you drop me a PM with your email address I can send you a drawing of the spec I had made.

Your car is a facelift so you can get away with more on the rear (the pre-facelift have a wheelarch lip). Hence I get some light fouling with standard 15 inch Seat wheels and 185/55 tyres and 15mm spacers. I run 14 inch rims on the track using 185/60 R14 Colway tarmac rally tyres - which last about 5 trackdays and are £45 a corner direct from the factory. I don't have any clearance problems with them.

Reference the cage - I'm no expert. I just got an ex-Rockingham one from Steve on the forum ages ago. There were a few knocking around although a lot of them are now in track day cars.

Mirrors are just DTM style ones - bought second hand for a tenner off another forum. The standard mirrors have heavy cast iron bases and swapping them saves quite a bit of weight.

Although I've been two Marham twice this year I live down near Guildford in Surrey. A bit of trek up to Marham for a track day but they are well organised and relaxed affairs (although I did get told off this time for outbreaking one of the marshall's mates in a Citrown Xsara who would not get out of my way!). The next one will be in April next year - keep an eye on the trackday section of the forum.

If you would like any further info or piccies just shout.
