Ok wicked thanks guys, can you still get hold of the Adjusted crash bar? if not how much work is involved in cutting the OEM one?

Also price wise im not to sure atm hopfully £150/£200? i felt like that was a good price but it all depends on how much wokr there is or how much the replacement crash bar is haha

Replacement crash bar I feel like will be near impossible to find. I don't know from experience how much you have to cut up the old one. Stupid that it doesn't come with the bar. Look around on google for lcr forge mic fitment maybe you'll find the thread where they show pics of the old one cut up

That's for a regular 180 cupra platform or gti etc

I am looking in to getting an airtech intercooler. I was gonna see if any body else is interested and see if they would be interested in some sort of group buy and get the price down

Hi all, been painfully busy at work of late hence the lack of updates and delays in the build.

Ended up getting a 2nd hand fmic got it for a real good price and it’s oversized. Had to modify the bumper a fair bit to fit it in etc but happy with the end product :)

Going to be upgrading my fuel rail and injectors this weekend aswell.

anyone got any advise on coil packs as I want to upgrade them and as far as I’m aware the best ones to go for are the R8 coil packs?

thoughts??

Thanks

Nice Job there, did you get the pipes / hoses with it or just worked out what you needed and brought the hoses individually?

As for coil packs, many on the forums / social's say the standard ones are fine, just get new ones but personally i've been running the 'R8' red ones for 4 years and the cars not missed a beat. Got mine from Awesome GTi.

Thanks :) unfortunately not didn’t come with anything so had to design the piping and connectors etc myself, got all the piping etc from Auto Silicone Hoses (http://www.autosiliconehoses.com/)

They were great, really helpful especially on the phone.

ok brilliant, thanks I had a look on Awesome GTI but couldn’t find anything for the LCR only for the 2ltrs?

don’t suppose you have a link?

also, are they plug and play? Or do you need conversion kit etc?

What what I have read coils are not really an issue. From some people with a good reputation on here I have seen that the standard coil packs are more than up to the job.and that the r8 up grade is sort of waste of time unless you want shiney blue or red ones.
I recon peoples problems come more down to poor choice or guidance on spark plugs.
On the coil front I am going to run a MSD ford spec uprated coil and lead set up and then with this I can then set up a wastes spark style ignition set up and hopefully keep the bores run cleaner and then hopefully more efficient and then bigger and cleaner bang

cheers for the hoses link.

I'm not gonna comment on standard ones as never really run them as changed plugs and coil packs as part of service when I 1st got my car, so no real experience other than car ran fine when I brought it. I went with these for longevity and reliability (back when I was looking at these cars everyone was saying coil packs fail regularly...). I've also gone one spark plug colder due to remapping + extras.

I've got these fitted with these adapters in a BAM engine (push-fit) for info. Read the info. on the site as says not suitable for bolt down coil packs but I think its more the wiring plug.

https://www.awesomegti.com/shop-by-...-r8-ignition-coil-pack-set-for-2-0t-vehicles/

https://www.awesomegti.com/shop-by-...lastic-2-0t-coil-pack-adapters-push-fit-only/

or there are standard ones it would appear.

end of the day, give them a call and make sure you get the right ones or find a friendly mechanic and get standard ones from TPS, but they won't be red :)

No probs :) and brilliant thanks for the help with this. Ill give them a call and get to the bottom of it.

Also looking at Dogbone Mounts been looking at this https://www.awesomegti.com/shop-by-brand/ecs-tuning/ecs-ultimate-torque-link-dogbone-mount-kit/ thoughts?

Also on remapping side of things i was originally looking at stage two revo, then considered APR (but its looking like they dont do the stage 2 for AMK anymore, i saw you have a AmD remap.

Any advise on which one to go for and the differences etc

This is a cheaper replacement for the lower dogbone (gearbox), quick search so might be cheaper out there https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/1216650381

Personally, I've had AmD remap four of my cars and in each case been really happy with the results. There are others on social media who hate them (I think due to own experience with issues, etc.) but like I say, I've only really had a good experience with them.

Other options for remaps seem to be Devil Developments and Badger5, based on (the social's again) these two seem to be the daddy's of 1.8T tuning (although Devil developments seem to be all about tuning BMW's nowadays). Revo I think is a bit generic and I don't read about anyone running a revo map on the MK1.

Brilliant, thanks mate, big help with all the info.

Another question (sorry) Did you get a Stage 1 or Stage 2 map from AmD? also what power and torque did you get from it?

Thanks mate

MIne has all stage 2 recommended equipment, except FMIC ( I did have a new Airtec ready to fit but sold it to fund the LSD).

As for power I have a RR plot that shows 245 BHP from when it was mapped. To be honest I take RR plots with a pinch of salt. It's how the car drives that is most important to me and I really like the power delivery I've got with the AmD map, I asked for a smooth track map not a peaky one and it's what I got. More power would be nice but at the expense of on track driverability not so sure.

I've been in two other Cupra R's on track both running stage 2 maps / hardware and around 280 bhp (by different tuners), and i'd say i'm near in feel to them power wise (although i'm lighter).

Ok brilliant, thanks mate

Last thing i need to consider is upgrading the injectors some people are saying Bosch 550cc but i cant seem to find any which will fit the OEM fuel rail and others are saying the Bosch 610cc which i can find once that fit (with adapters)

Is this a mod you have done? or no much about?

What LSD have you got as this on my list to do aswell :)

550cc seem to be the injector of choice, but I've not looked into it. I'd say that below 300 bhp the stock ones are ok going by the people talking about 550 / 610cc injectors are looking for 340+ bhp and running hybrid / bigger turbo's. You say your not on facebook but there is a wealth of knowledge on the forums on there (big turbo 20vt's is a good forum). U Might consider setting up an account just to get access to the closed groups. https://www.facebook.com/groups/203244473354322/?fref=nf

Wavetrac LSD..... no more :drive1:

Sup people,

Hope everyone is doing ok with the whole pandemic situation.

Been abit quiet on here as uni got a bit crazy, spent the last few week doing bits to the car and refurbishing a trailer that we bought.

The guy that I'm doing the build with has recently started a YouTube channel which he will be recording all the work we do on the Leon and trailer.

If you guys wonna check it out and drop him a sub i would really appreciate it might even help people with little mod and how there a done :)

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCY7ANCTEbss9Seza9Ut0xyQ

Ill be putting some pics up soon, we only changed some coil packs and installed a new dogbone mount but slowly getting there haha.

The Roll cage is also in (still needs to be welded but its in none the less haha)
