I presume he means theoretical speed, not gonna happen without a whole load more power, even then drag will probably still hold it back

Scotty i'm pretty sure you need to tweak the fueling as you are flowing more air. Failure to do this could mean Knock and timing retard and hence power loss. I'd check with vagcom just to be safe.

Definately.... the LCR has a wideband - so log that. but there's no fuelling adjustment on the software, that's for N/a cars (that use the same SPS3)

It should have all been done when it was set up but will check.

Yeah 200mph by changing the gear set, not a cheap mod at 2k fro parts but not many cars can claim over 200mph. I think its stated at 202, but speak check out HPA's website for more details. Powers nothing without the right gearing!

Sounds like just a diesel box/would it have been considerably cheaper just to fit a diesel box?

I have to admit, I'm thoroughly puzzled by this one, Scotty - so much so I've just checked the calendar (to see if it's 1st April).

To say you didn't want to go with a BT because of the cost - the £2k you've just spend on the 'box, for seemingly little real world gain, would've gone nicely with the money you've spent on the hybrid.

What's the weather like on your planet?

hmms sounds nice, but 2k for parts and then the same for fitting it ?
for the few times you can drive 250km/h + hmms....

$2k not £ so probably about £1100. (although import tax and shipping on top) I doubt it would cost the same again to fit??

Its Scott's money so its not right for any of us to question what he wants to spend it on, but i doubt even Bill's 500bhp monster reaching anywhere near 200mph. Probably 180-185mph max.

I would have though a mod like this is purely for race type/drag type cars?

I believe jabbas golf is top of the board just now and thats ''only'' done 178mph. I think that is running 410bhp/410lbft. To get to 200mph its going to take quite a bit more power.

Although i dont know whether jabbas 178mph is gear limited or just the fact it ran out of road:shrug: Perhaps with a longer straight and modified gearing it ''may'' go faster:shrug: )

I dont think Scott's getting it for top speed stuff, as aerodynamic drag up the top end along with the LCR box like shape, its not going to go much faster without putting silly amounts of power through it but surely with longer ratios in the lower gears it ''may'' make a difference?

Scott good luck mate, i get the feeling your in it for the long run and this is a long project for you?

Agree with Feel it is curious decision Scotty....then again it's your cash, mainly in my eyes because with say 340bhp you would never get to 200mph (maybe 450bhp+the right gearing and infinate amount of run up) 200mph must be theroetical ignoring the weight and air resistance etc....after 2-3miles of run up the car will be mega hot and the speed creeping up really slowly.....what do you hope to get as v.max180mph (GPS verified)???????

I could even understand reducing the top speed as well to say 125mph (lets face it we don't go much past that 99% of the time) thus giving realy good in gear performance and improving 1/4mile too

Your money though....just curious why you have chosen to do this mod

sorry was talking about 2k euros ;)
but to fit this i think you need to open/rebuild your gearbox ? not an easy job

i would say 280km/h should be possible with this upgrade (with 350hp), but i would say only nice if you live in germany

same upgrades :

http://www.hgp-turbo.de/vw/r32.html

6 Gang 308km/h bei 7.000 U/min
€ 2.900,00

6 Gang 326km/h bei 7.000 U/min.
€ 3.900,00

How many people can say thee car is capable of 200mph+? The LCR will stay with me till the bitter end (who knows which one will die first). £2k is all in for me and to be able to join the ranks of the vmax club etc with a low ish bhp car would be a nice thing in my eyes. To be honest i kind of fell inlove with the system but then found out the price (was expecting half that) but can you name many cars capable of 200+ all be it on paper? Some say im crazy, some say i have pasely ears, but am i the stig! haha. No really am i!

Thing is it wont be capable of 200mph   Nowhere near it. Its like me saying i will put a gearset in my ibiza therefore it will go 200mph

With the same gearset on the hpa twin turbo golf r32 with 600hp it just reaches 202 at the limiter. So with your 340bhp (if you even get that) you'll never make it.

Dont forget cause it is lowered gear you'll need slighlty more power to reach a certain speed due to the leverage of gears.

The main advantage of getting the gearset is that the ring gear is hardened. As on high hp cars 450+ the teeth start chipping Caney will back this up as he has this gearset and the reason he got it was chipping of teeth.

It wont happen with your 340hp, if anything i would be more worried about the diff rivets going.

Anyway each to there own i guess :)

It will be about £700 to put the ring gear in plus the 2 transfer shafts. Plus i wouldn't just let just any fit it on the cheap.

Well you won't be able to say your car is unless you up the power again and put the car through severe weight loss

The logic doesn;t work, I mean it's as logical as my wife's 1.2S Ibiza being capable of 200mph............which it is if I pushed it out the back of an RAF Hurcules at 25,000ft

HPA state the speeds on a stock engine so mine should be more than enough.
I can use a bike with two differnt gear sets put the same amount of effort in and get two differnt results just by the gears used. Guess we will just have to wait and see what she recods when its done later on nxt year (waiting for clutch to wear a bit more)

I think they are quoting theoretical speeds though

increasing power by 30% only increases top speed by roughly 10%, say if you have 325bhp your top speed could increase to around 178mph, 380bhp might give around 185bhp

aerodynamics of the LCR doesn't do it any favours either compared to some of the exotics and some of those struggle to get to 200mph

also worth bearing in mind if you lengthen the gears it will decrease the acceleration, could find in 6th gear you acceleration isn't much better than a stage 2 LCR

200mph in a leon..... now i would like to see that, whether its "geared" for it or not.

think square law when it comes to those speeds and power to push it there.

good luck trying tho.

take more than 2 miles to get there tho (thinking brunters)
