AMD dyno days I've been on work like this.

AMD chipped cars, fans infront of intercooler - lots of cold air & correct load. expected results.
ANother cars, fan about 3ft back & some pretty hard runs. numbers a bit low
Revo Cars, fans turned on just prior to the run - then major load applied & graphs heatsoak

They did it several times in the day - and of course the owners dutyfully write down their mods on the 'spec sheet' to give them a clue

That's downright dirty, but explains a lot. Doesn't explain Andy's results, but maybe he was just more vigilant?

I know the S3 guy with the Imolavirus turbo had it at AMD for something like three months (for mapping I think) before he pulled it and took it to see Mineah. Bad blood?

Turbos are now built and ready for shipment guys so should be with us soon!:)

How long does US shipping normally take? 7-10 days?

Nice one, ive spoken to MRC today. £650 for the map and and about 6hrs to fit the turbo.

Now its do i get it fitted and live with my map or get the map done when its being fitted so im 100% its all running ok and not running lean etc

I'd suck it and see.

Feel was right earlier on - the LCR has a wideband Lambda sensor - so include that in your datalogging to ease your mind.

I don't think you'll see much peak power (and airflow) but will see midrange gains - which means your inlet temps (and boost) will rise.

Given you have a wide range of adjustment with st2 - and it's not a vastly different turbo - I think you'll be at least fine to prove itself.

Hmmm what a choice! I know i wont get loads (if any at all) of extra power out of a custom map its more the fact i know everything has been checked so i know its running in its tolerance, as im no expert by a long way i would/could easily miss something on vag com (mind you kev has said he will have a look at my logs etc as a second opinion)

Without a helping hand from nitrous i actually think Sie will have top figures due to him having that £1000 APR downpipe! Although i dont think Sie is mapping it properly yet so we may just squeeze past him ;)

Who knows:shrug: I'll be happy with over 300hp either way:)

Lets not forget Carl aswell (wildwilly) he's the 4th with this hybrid turbo.

Scotty reference fitting, it looks as if though JBS are leading the way and im sure James will custom code it aswell:)

Jacob is staggering shipment of turbos aswell :) Mines 1st:p ;)

Just booked my car in with JBS for friday 30th november.

Quoted 4hrs to fit at cost of £211.50 inc vat fitted. They will source gaskets/bolts aswell :) So that saves another job of hunting around for part numbers!:funk:

Will just need a 4bar FPR to find now:)

James is off sick as he has broken his leg but he should be back by then to map the car aswell with a CC ph 2 remap. Hopefully get it all done the same day if James has recovered:)

We can possibly see about a little discount on the map also if all 3 of us book in with JBS. I did ask but as James is off sick and Mike couldnt guarantee anything ref discount on map so we will have to ask closer to the time.

Thats if you and WW go down the JBS/CC route. You may fancy something different:)

I think thats a cracking price compared to some of the other quotes flying around. JBS were also the cheapest by far when i had my clutch replaced also, beat all the others by a good £150-200.:)

Trouble is for me its along way. Vag Tech have said 250+vat so £293.75 ish and im sure i would do £50 worth of fuel getting to jbs. It would be great if we can get a rolling road day with the four cars so we can see the difference, ok theres the RR lotto but if we all go on the same day to the same place it should bring up the odds of us winning!

Scotty, are you confident you'll have the turbo in time?

Mine is being sent out today, the 2nd on monday and the 3rd a couple of days later.

I would imagine it taking around 7-10 days from US meaning i should receive mine not next week but the week after that some time! (The week beginning 06/11) Yours will be a few days after mine.

What mapping are you going with then? You going to use current revo and apexi?

:redcard: You can't do that! All this sharing of information, opinion and views and then you go and hold your cards close to your chest!:ban: If that's what you meant?

I was at that AMD RR day... Didn't spot anything untoward with the runs... The K04 S3's all pulled low bhp figures, but there were various reasons for that.

Andy's quattro was impressive, but he was running high timing and boost thanks to his fuel probably knocking 104ron and his HUGE intercooler :)

Can't say i spotted anything dodgy with the fans and i don't think they knew the spec of the cars running either. My A3 was first on, he ran it twice and when it came off he said he'd had to run it the second time 'cos he'd got wheelspin the first, he asked what spec i was. When i said REVO he said, 'well 192bhp/218lb_ft is about right then'.

Just my opinion of that day of course, no idea of past rep or even if they were being sneaky with applied loads that day. Just didn't hear anyone (no matter what spec) complaining. Oh, except some guy with a sooty A4 who had an eBay tuning box

I would say between 305-315bhp levels at worst/best case.

Or thats what i am personally hoping for and would imagine WW and Scotty aswell!

It does keep us in that ''safe'' level for internals where as eliminator 330/340bhp ''may'' be beyond the limits.
My friend runs a shop that does cylinder head flow development for road and race cars and he had a car come in with a 210 (or maybe 225) engine running around 500 hp - standard internals! Now I'm not saying I would want to do this but this car had been going for a while with no problems.

Standard pistons/crank and valves possibly but his rods should have gone through the block with those figures.

Perhaps it was a standard engine with just the rods being the only thing changed!

I have been running 325bhp/400lbft through my rods for the last 18mths so i think people dont give them the credit they deserve, but saying that they have failed at levels a lot lower than this.

Having overwhelming evidence and that the top tuners rate them at around 330-340bhp is good enough for me not to dare go past!
