This is not good news.
Mapping seems to be a big problem and a very grey area for me.
Ive even considered and talked to Unitronics in the US who say there BT map would work without custom mapping but i cant believe that.

What about going standalone ECU to let someone non vag map it?

Wonder what ecu Steve Guglielmi uses in his Lotus 1.8T. Might ask him on sunday and who did the mapping too!

Total bummer with how much work you've put in on the hardware side, to be let down by the mapping side. You must get it finished and let the fun begin!!!

If I may add something to Darren's build thread as we mapped his car for him.

Darren's build is unique, in that he is using a big turbo on a small capacity engine and is still using the original ME7 ecu, this management system is ok upto 350 (400 if pushing it) before you start to run into problems, 1 of these problems is that the ecu if it detects a massive amount of air rushing through the intake system it will shut the throttle (doesn't matter whether you have your foot planted on the pedal, the euc will still shut the throttle if it needs), this is one of Darren's issues, we have suggested numerous times that going over to a standalone system would help one of the problems.
At a given point in the rev range the engine cannot produce enough air to drive the turbo (to make 1bar of pressure in the inlet you need at least 1.5-2bar in the exhaust) at the point Darren's turbo is surging the engine cannot develop this.
Mapping is not the issue, we have continuned to help Darren as we too would like to see his car produce what it is capable of.
We have over 90 hours in mapping on Darren's car, at our cost to help him make it's full potential.
If you place that boss into the exhaust manifold like I have asked you will see the boost problem.

small update.

got the new maf on and it went back for mapping.

came back with same problems. but they are now putting it down to compressor surge. however im not convinced.

they also said once it pulled thru the surge it made 460bhp, but once again im not convinced.
currently looking to have it mapped again at my cost.

i also managed to snap the turbo support bracket so i now have a stonger model :D its not stainless anymore, thicker, and has a strengthening fold :)

HoocH

hooch, I would be very wary of adding a support bracket. the manifold will be growing and contracting in complex directions not a single direction.. and may well be stressing things more.

I ran mine with no brace after I found this happening on my top support which the turbo "hung" off. It added stress when it got hot. Removed it and no problems.

just a thought

alrady spoke to bill and he cant do it.

found out cc can do it but only at jbs

... and the reasoning for this being to confirm hardware is ok on the dyno, as opposed road logging. (as there have been a few issues so far, thats their reccomendations)

CC3 can most definately map this, as my own ibiza bares testiment to, with no niggly fault codes etc... on 517bhp last year.

I was talking to the guy that bought danish's a3Q at inters.
That car had lots of issues with mapping, but apparently chip wizard (wayne) sorted it. The turbo is an owens hybrid, but 3071 sized.

If it's comp surge in high gears during boost onset, try moving the n75 boost take off from the pipe, after the compressor to the intake manifold.

Both caney and I have what sounds like dv flutter but has been put down as comp surge until now. I've been reading around scooby bb's, and they have problems with dv lifting during boost onset, which is cured by taking the boost signal from post throttle body, rather than pre ic.

As for high airflow causing problems, well fit a maf large enough that you won't saturate it, and do the same with the map.

note for quattronics & Hooch as there are emails flying about with more facts/discussions than I could shake a stick at.

My ibiza, 517bhp from 2.2bar on FP red and other mods not million miles away from Hooches.
Car ran an ibiza 6K0 file not 8N0 file in it and had no such issues be it on part or full throttle.

Going standalone is not mandatory as is proven. Going external boost control (AVC-R) however was better on mine as it allowed me more control on onset of requested boost, and level etc (traction issues on fwd racing on road tyres)... no part throttle surging etc, running MAF also on the CC3 code written for it.

Mine is a racecar true, but it has to be driven on part throttle a lot. Its not a full throttle only machine... Racing is not 100% gas pedal unless you are sprinting down 1/4 miles

ME7 in the rights hands, with appropriate tools and access to tables has been successful on mine. There should be no reason it is'nt on Hooches, without having to go standalone. If its a mechanical issue (surge), how would a change to standalone help things, other than allow more control of parameters than possibly available to you on ME7 (complex things that we know they are)

If people can get over the personalities involved, the CC option is a proven one.

Good luck Hooch deciding.

Can you not convert to throttle cable?
I think Hydra might have dbw capability as i know motec have.

DV ports not big enough?
