Yep I am going to stitch the whole car as I go along stripping the sealer. I have seen pics of btcc cars where there have stitched the door shut flange/seam

Yeah that's true but if the roll cage is to all points and welded to the floor and all points where it touches and using gussets I would have thought it was pretty stiff from then. Let alone stitching the door shuts. Or may be in testing they started to show distortion

Right.... am sitting here having some silly ideas... for example.. do I cut the boot and floor out and weld in a mk4 r32 /TT quattro floor plan. Then at that point I can run independent rear suspension set up.. And then possibly later down the line when the engine goes really silly I could go 4wd.. What's peoples opinion

Didnt the Cup Cupra's or the DTM Cupra's have IRS ?, much better than that big old beam hung out the back (Are you allowed depending on what classes you want to compete in ?)

Yes there was definitely some out there. Even the Darkside one they played around quite recently had IRS and no AWD.

R32s fetch premium money, I'd be sourcing a rough Quattro TT or S3 8L.

As I am on nights for the next 2 weeks I might as well play cars for a bit till I need some sleep I think that is 80-90% of the inside now stripped all brackets I don't need have gone and all them little threads that stick up have gone too

Just need up weld up all the holes. Might even make plates and cover all the old drain holes too.
Also spent a bit if time sanding one of the rear doors and ran some tiger seal around the edge next will be to scotch brite it and a few coats of primer to see what it looks like

But made a bit of time and went to my workshop and got the car on the spit. Spent 10 mins on the wire wheel cleaning off the under seal

Looks good. Gonna take ages but this stuff is so thick in places it like up to 10mm. So should save loads of weight when done

With being really busy at work not had time to get to the unit. But today I got here. Done the last of the filler work on 1 of the doors and sanded it ready for primer. Just tiger sealed the door moulding in to place and run a seam around the edge. Waiting for that to dry and the cut and smooth the sealer then paint
Resized_20200411_165449_596.jpg

Now with the car on the spit u have started the sealer removal on the off side rear arch.. I can now see why the leons didn't really rust. Every joint in seam sealered then there is a complete covering of a lighter foam types sealer guessing for stone chip and sound deadening

Well radio up high and best get back to it

Resized_20200411_184215_7502.jpg

That's off side rear arch done and most of the boot floor done .. gonna be slow but should loose a fair bit of weight threw doing this.. may then go on and stitch weld the shell
