Right had a delivery today. The tfsi crank is back.....
20220509_184534.jpg

It's been slightly dewebbed to reduce weight and rotating mass. Thus helps rev up and also to slow the engine down.

Also the remain of the Webb has been knife edged. This has many theoretical plus sides. Like it reduces drag threw the oil mist in the crank case. Some also say to help cut threw the oil on the sump( only if you over fill it tho ).
For me it was more weight lost and if any of them theory's are right it can only help. I can't really see it being and down side really

And it looks good
All the work was done bay larton engineering up in morcombe. Andy was really helpful and really really well priced. If you need any machining work done I would highly recommended him

I've been a customer of andy larton in the past, great guy and fair priced like you said. rebuilt my gearbox and fitted tran-X diff in my 106 gti. he does head work too - port and polishing, he used to specialise in peugeot citroen, 10 years ago he may have moved on now.

Right sorry for the lack of updates. But due to family issues. Illness and a few other issues the build has sort of ground to a hault.
I haven't stopped and do want to continue but at this point I can't. I don't have the time or the energy to carry on with the car. Its still in the workshop and isn't going any where lol. I do go over and sit with it so it's not on its own for to long and don't feel unloved hahaha
I will do small bits as and when I am able to and will post them.
I do feel like I have let you all down . But it will be back.. not sure when. But it will be

Had a little bit of time and managed to find a scrap leon so cut out a section of back panel and welded it in
20221227_154942.jpg

Marked out and drilled some 9mm holes.. well center punched then 3mm then 9mm
20221227_163422.jpg

Then fitted nutserts all the way alongthw folded edge.
20221227_163827.jpg

Don't look at the welding... I couldn't find my mask so it was eyes closed and feeling withbmy finger as I welded
Andy way then a quick test fit of the carbon blank
20221227_164213.jpg

Next up when health and time allows will be fit and cut rear bumper and defuser
Hope every one had a good Christmas

Sorry.. its been so long.
Basicly it's in the same position . With work and family issues I just haven't had time or the energy.
On a good note. The block is off at prorace engineering. The billet main ends are being linebored and honed.
It was going to be bored out to suit the stroker pistons.. but... after some talks with PRE things changed..
It's now been bored out to suit having liners fitted for the stroker pistons.
They are painting it black and fitting a new set of core plugs too.
I will up load when I get it back and start the assembly of the thing.
Still have lots on order and have the strive to do this but making it all fit in life if becoming to hard.
Hopefully more updates soon

No need to be sorry, we are all enjoying this build its going to be fantastic when its completed.

Family and Health first Work you dont have any choice about unless you win the lottery so just keep plugging away and look forward to the day you get it out on the track and all that hard work will be paid back plus some.

Also the block is back from pro race engineering. It has had billet main end caps fitted with arp stud conversion. Then line bored to suit the tfi 2.0 crank.
Then after a discussion with Stacey at PRE (pro race engineering) we thought to help it would be better to run liners. So the block was bored out then new liners pressed in Then bored and honed to suit the JE stroker pistons.
They have done some amazing work. Have a look threw thier Web site.
They will do any thing from your annual service items up to 1400bhp drag race equipment.
So hopefully soon I can start putting the engine together bit by bit

I can't thank the boys and girls over at PRE enough for their help in this build.

And today I got a message from them saying they can do me a little deal on a turbo... so I threw some more money thier way. And now i have a g30-770 on the way to me soon... and a pair of catcam cam shafts with pulley..

More pics soon
