Well a bit of bad news this end, lost my job last Wednesday for the second time in 2 years! The only plus is that I don't have any car finance and own the car outright this time round. Spoiler has been sprayed and just waiting to get some window bond to stick it on with. Progress from here on in is gonna be slow though as my priorities have now changed a bit :( gettin rather fecked off with this recession

Thanks Char. I kinda saw it coming to be honest, orders were few and far between and not nearly enough to keep all 3 estimators going, 4 or 5 engineers were to be let go too. Signs of the times. Might have to go back to the tech n train in something else totally unrelated to the construction industry

Sorry to hear that mate. Must say I am glad though that you at least get to keep the car. I am sure you will find something else mate.

Nice work on the interior :)

Thanks Char ;) was a bit tricky not to get creases in some places but I think I've got a pretty good finish :) All in all the door handles took about 25-30mins to do so it's not that difficult.

I thought I'd left enough film to do the hood over the speedo but fell short by about 2"

How did you do the door sills? Is it just the vinyl or are they on anything?

I just measured the length I wanted and worked out a rough depth to carry it up as far as the door seal then rounded off the edges using a coin before cutting it out.

Applying them is a case of carefully measuring and marking where to place them.
Hold each one in place, remove the backing paper and carefully smooth them out onto the sills. You might get a few creases starting to appear once you get up near the seal but work with it and smooth them out until you get under the rubber. Then run your thumb over the whole thing to push out any bubbles. If you use Hexis it'll come out fairly easily. Just take your time with the whole thing and it'll work out well. All in all it took me about half an hour to apply them.

So its just vinyl? I wanted somethingore substational like a plate as it wont protect the sill that much if it gets scratched, it will just tear

Yeah its just vinyl carbon film. Don't be deceived though, it's pretty resiliant stuff and will take the odd scrape from a shoe no problem without tearing. At the end of the day if you do have a stone bedded in the bottom of your shoe and happen to scrape a metal sill protector you're gonna put a mighty big scrape in an otherwise relatively expensive sill plate..... or a much cheaper piece of film. Either way the paint underneath is still gonna be protected!

how long are you pieces? Length and width? :)

They do lok spot on, may try it tomorrow or day after, gotta clean car first :p

Of my sills? About 600-700mm long I'd say and about 150-200mm deep. How long you make them is up to yourself but make sure you've enough to carry it up underneath the rubber door sill
