Hi,

I've booked my car in to be fitted with a full 3" custom made turbo back decat exhaust. I know the quality of the exhaust will be absolutely top notch but ...... what will happen once the exhaust is fitted?

Basically what Im asking is. Will the car run? Will it rub smoothly? Will the be instant power gains?

Does anyone know of anything I should be ensuring the maker of the exhaust includes or does?

Currently im running a forge twintake, forge dv and stage one map.

Any info is appreciated!

You will probably get the EML light on

Make sure the flange has at least a 3" opening, seen many an exhaust builder cut off the downpipe flange from the existing exhaust and use that.

Not sure how big it is on the standard downpipe but worth considering. Stainless steel ones are just over £20 on eBay

But you reckon itll drive ok straight away? I was worried it might go into limp mode?

Any ideas of gains?

Your car looks mint!

I was going to do mine but I cba with the hassle... With mine the dpf is in the cat and removing them would make it go into limp mode, so i need to get the dpf delete done then remove the cat/dpf... I'm just getting rid of the back box and getting a pipe in

Should be a notable difference and pull a lot better at the top end. Car should drive fine but the EML light will need mapping out when going for stage 2 mapping.

No idea on gains but really needs further mapping to utilise the extra flow. I've just had a cat back made for mine and was surprised at the difference in the higher rpms.

Mines already got a back box delete with a straight pipe in its place (cost me £12 because I did it myself!)

Sounds pretty good and definitely makes a bit of difference at high speeds i.e. 120 + ... although I did it for the sound!

£550 is about right really, the likes of milltek are just over priced for what they are.

I paid £340 on Friday for a custom made cat-back exhaust, exactly as I asked for both in design, diameter and noise levels. Will be going back at a future date (once i have saved for a stage 2 map), so that i can have a 3" downpipe with interchangeable cat section for MOT time (just incase i'm ever in the situation where i need one fitted) - quoted £180 so it will cost me £520 + the flange - so around £550 all in

Look forward to more videos - will check out the one above later tonight once home from work. I really should take some of mine. :D

Has the cat back made a difference speed wise?

Also did you have any silencers fitted?

i thought that price was about right, like you say, I know the cost of stainless steel tubing and when you look at the miltek systems I could never bring myself to pay that purely for a name.

There is a definite improvement at higher rpm - feels a lot happier to be revved harder and definitely pulls harder at higher rpm.

I had two silencers fitted to mine as i wanted it as quiet as standard but with a slightly nicer exhaust note -The exhaust route is a lot more direct now as I dont have a large backbox at an awkward angle under the boot floor. Silencers are very free flowing and a huge improvement over the standard exhaust

I got custom 3" TBE (downpipe from Arlows with 100 cell cat) with 1 silencer. The sound is awesome cause I made rear conversion with Cupra R diffuser.
Havent mapped it and dont have CEL yet. Iwill add some pics this evening

I would put in a "lambda spacer" for the second O2 sensor while you are under the car. Just to have a bigger chance that the EML wont light up.
