Nowhere near, i.e. Norway.
To fit a Fabia arm you need the following:

Fabia hatch cap, Fabial Estate arm and blade.
Don't go for the Estate cap unless your good at guessing exactly where the water will come out.
Buy both caps and you don't have to guess. You can just look at the hatch cap and replicate the slot.

Touran/Polo cap will need trimming down all the way around the bottom to fit properly. About 1/2cm. Easily done with a Stanley Knife, belt sander etc
Never had to do this on any of the three different caps I tried. Must be different on older Leons. I've an old Leon.

Why waste money buying both caps when you can buy one and do the job first time with little hassle. Just don't make sense to me

Mines an older Leon mate. I've got a 2002 1.4 Leon.
Also had to trim the cap down when I fitted a Polo/Touran rear Aero wiper to my 2000 VW Lupo (SEAT Arosa also has the same problem when fitting one to its rear window).

There's been many topics about this here on SCN and also on Clublupo regarding the Polo/Touran cap popping up so yes if you want the job done properly then you will have to trim a little off as the cap touches the rear glass when operated making the cap pop up.

If you want the gap between the arm and cap (the thing I've been trying to explain earlier), go head, be my guest. I don't want that, so I forked out some big money on a second cap, back when I had a Fabia one.

That's obviously not old enough. I've an APP engine (nobody has an APP), car's built in the spring of 2000, that's old. Maybe there's some other reason. I've a LHD. Don't know.

Anyway, I've been driving around with an aero wiper and the caps mention for nearly four years. Never popped, never trimmed and always worked fine. Even in heavy snow.

I think the touran wiper was updated sometime in 2004 (so the VW guy told me) and might be the reason that the cap needs some 'adjustments' to get it to fit properly...

So, I ended up going for the Aero rear wiper for the Leon 2000+ from vagparts.com, but am having issues fitting the new cap. It just doesnt look as though its going to fit properly. Wondering if I should send it back, or do a tweak somehow.

Any ideas?

Old standard cap on the left, new aero cap on the right...

Lookd very similar to the issue I had fitting the Polo wiper to my Leon. You'll need to trim the bottom of the cap and then probably slightly enlarge the slot the water sprays from to make it work properly. A little time consuming, but not difficult.

Thanks Leigh, I was hoping you werent going to say that!

So how can vagparts.com get away with such a scam? Surely its the wrong part. Advertised as a simple replacement to the existing arm, which it clearly isnt!

Trim? How can I do that then, without sophisticated machinery?

I did mine with a stanley knife and some fine sand paper. A dremmel or similar tool would be quicker/easier if you have one.

Dont think I have any of those things. Some builder relatives of mine might, so i'll ask them before i use stanley.

Cheers Leigh

Well I had a go at trimming my aero cap down to a similar size as the original cap and it has turned out ok.

Using a stanley knife to cut off 3 or 4mm and a metal file which I bought from Homebase to smooth off my wonky stanley knife cuts it actually looks pretty good and should now fit ok.

I will now order another cap from VW as I broke this one when trying to fit it first time round and not realising there was a size problem (breaking off one of the clips inside).
