My local dealer said there will be a TDi Leon with 'about 200BHP'.

I think the FR TDi will use the 170BHP VAG engine.
So perhaps there will be petrol and diesel Cupra's like with the Ibiza.

Sounds nice if they do.

Well I too have seen the new Leon in the Flesh and so dissapointed! I said from the start that this would hurt Seat and just reading an article in the latest addition of Autocar 4th Oct 05, i was right. "Seat is cutting back production of the new Leon hatchback. Lukewarm demand in the Spanish market has been blamed."
Either Seat need to release the Cupra version quick smart or i think they will continue to suffer sales wise. Also the issue now is that you can get better cars lookwise with similar BHP output and for the same price! Which was one of the old Leons best points. Good looking car with good BHP cheaper than most of the rivals.

My agreement runs out in 6 months. I was looking to get the new Cupra when it comes out, so I went along to the preview at my local dealer (Coupers, St Albans) and the chap said that they reckon the Cupra will be out in time. Otherwise, I'm not sure.
Anyone know any more about release dates of teh FR/Cupra?

Rumours about SEAT.

A friend of mine works in GEDAS (Martorell). As you probably know GEDAS is the IT provider of VW group. This is what he has told me:

Ibiza & Cordoba sales: good
Leon Mk1 sales: very good, it will produced at least till March 2006.
New SEAT Leon: very good, over objectives. Initial objecive: 485 cars/day. Current production: 515 cars/day.
Altea & New Toledo: not good, below objectives. People are still not used to MPVs.

Well, in fact these are not surprising news, we all know that Leon and Ibiza are the most sold cars of SEAT.

Intresting .. seeing as Seat announced they had stopped production earlier this year.

And dealers are unable to get hold of anymore ... whats left in stocks is all you can sell ..

I think there is some confusion here.

I understand that the low sales in Spain are across the board - not just affecting SEAT.

The discussions I've had with my dealer generally back up what 'SeatLion' says - the new Leon is selling very well nicely.

Let's face it the Leon is never going to sell in the vast numbers of it's Ford, VW and Vauxhall equivalents - to be honest I'd rather it didn't!

New FR

Looking at the FR pics, they really do improve the look of the New Leon.
I gonna go to the London Motor show to see what the Cupra looks like.
But so far i still prefer the look of the Mrk 1 Leon. Just looks perfect in Cupra clothes.

I think if you had them side by side (and I have a great pic that demonstrates this) the 'old' leon does look dated by comparison.

can't show the pic, yet, but you'll see what I mean when i can...

Maybe, But looking at current Leon. I just still not convinced.
The back looks too much Alfa 147. The front looks out of place.
The FR looks much better but just something doesnt look right!

The other thing i dont like about the car.
Why the hell did they put the cigarette lighter so far away from the dash.
Means that if you want to power a PDA/GPS so on you have to either find an extention cable or have a cable in the way of the gear stick.

I like the rear of the New Leon but just not so sure of the front, especially the shiny S badge in the big black grille.

I'd like to see them (old Leon) side by side as that would give a good comparison.
