Engine sound

Hello everyone,

i was having a look around my car yesterday and i noticed it seemed to be making a lot of noise from the top of the engine around the middle. it sounds like clicking a bit like the sound a pen makes when u push the button on top but a lot faster. is this what it is meant to sound like? reminds my of the 12 year old fiesta i used to have lol. cant hear the sound from inside tho. sounds like a diesel when i turn it on but that is normal looking at other threads on here

ideal, thanks for that. i had a quick look through but couldnt find much. i must just be blind lol. the car seems to be working fine just seems strange that it sounds similar to a knackered old ford inside the engine bay

I also have this sound.....so I am hoping its normal to! what car have you got? I have a 2001 LC 180

ive got a 2001 L Sport 180, it also makes a clicking noise , like a mechanical pen .... its also make a slow whirring noise , which i think is the fan ?

sound about right to everybody ?

someone told me as i posted this ages ago, there is a little box on the left hand side of the engine bay which clicks, which is normal. i cant remember what its called though.

It's the carbon filter that makes the clicking noise. Perfectly normal.

my car is a 2000 leon sport, 180bhp. i read a few posts saying that there is some filter down the side which makes a noise. i wasnt getting a noise from there tho was from middle of engine bay which was what i was worried about lol
