Me either. Every single on eof my previous cars has had the bonnet liner binned, and none have ever had a problem with the paint.
might have to take mine away at the weekend then ..

I'm more concerned with the stone chips causing rust tbh.
so whats the manufacturers reasons for fitting it then? purely noise insulation?
would this have any effect on the paintwork over time?
Everything on the car is there for a reason, after all
Yeas & no...... everything IS there for a reason, BUT not all those reasons apply to us anymore, ie noise pollution, conservative mpg etc etc. Thats whey we're modding our cars after all. In effect we are making the most out what we have. I bet if there werent so many laws & rules in this day and age to abide by when building a car for th egeneral public the Cupra would have rolled out the factory doors a different, faster, noisier beast.
I know for a fact that not any of my cars have ever had a problem with paintwork due to prolonged use with no bonnet liner. Take Bill for instance, hes had god knows how many big turbo conversions on his Ibiza it pushes it to the max as well. And i bet his paintwork is fine. As is mine.
EDIT: In fact he's even running his turbo closer to the bonnet than we are. And i bet it gets alot hotter than ours
paint will have a melting/burning point the same as everything else.
the only thing that i will say is that the engine bay has still got a circulation of air throughout it preventing any sort of potential burning.
in theory, as you drive along, air is passing the underside of the engine bay which will pull heat downwards to escape underneath the car. obviously this is a different story if you leave your car running in a static position but then who leaves their engine running while static for long long periods of time?
someone in a traffic jam?
good point bud.......im still not completely convinced it will burn the paint though. On my old rs turbo there was no protective layer and the turbo which was infact at the front of the car and alot higher up the engine got just as hot if not hotter and never left a single discolouration.
if it got hot enough i expect there would be signs, but it seems obvious by the number of people that remove the lining that the heat rising from the engine doesn't heat up the bonnet enough to cause any problems
but the bonnet definitely does get hotter without it this is undeniable
