ive just had a look at Beaker's latest photos and i noticed that he's removed his sound deadening layer from underneath the bonnet.......

how many of you have done this and does this make much difference to noise levels from outside the car?

yeah i know what your saying.....ive had a couple of turbo'd cars now that have never had this so after seeing the pics i just wondered wether it was a good idea.

i like the look without it but as mines black it probably wont make much difference anyway.

they do assist with keeping heat off the bonnet, noticed with my last car, after a thrash, steam would rise from the bonnet when it rained. no other affects though

Mines been binned in favour of getting heat out of the engine bay. The bloody thing held so much heat in there. Thats the 1st thing that goes whenever i get a new car. ;)

would this have any effect on the paintwork over time?

Mines been like it for a year and a half and my painwork is fine under there. :D

In the rain i can see the water evaporating off my bonnet as i've removed the deadening. There is slightly more engine noise, but the engine should be marginally cooler.

ever been to spain phil?

if the ambient heat (if that makes sense??lol) can, i wouldn't be surprised if the heat from an engine could, but as i said, i dont think it does

Cars sit stil in spain car, we actually move when the engine is on so the moving air will cool it down.

Plus, i dont live in spain.
