Engine Oil in Air Intake.

I may have something similar, very small evidence of oil below the air filter union (4-5 drops maybe) probably about what KJA had the oil was not fresh but had dust and road grime in it so could have sat there for a while.

oil level checked on a level surface 4-5 hours after a 10 mile drive and it shows 100% on the dipstick. I'll check inside the hose + the air filter tonight when I get home.

I have removed the residue and I'll document anything inside the hose / on the filter if there is, I suspect a slight overfill on a previous service as the oil was not fresh but had dust and road grime in it so could have sat there for a while.

For reference 34k mile 2021 310 VZ2

My driveway is sloped so I checked mine at my works car park as its level there, I'll recheck the oil tomorrow morning just after my drive in and see what it is.

so whipped off the pipe and filter and there was a very small amount of oil 5-7 drops id say in the grove where the hose from the turbo is fed by the air box lid, nothing showing on the air box lid pipe work (see pic) and possibly some very slight residue on the filter foam surround bit no oil whatsoever in the paper pleats of the filter (I did remove it and checked both sides).

I've cleaned up what little residue there is, Mileage is just over 34100 so will check again in 100 or so miles.

I ran a paper towel down the pipe towards the turbo (very carefully and didn't pick up any more oil so this may just be a similar issue to Zenoteck's only my one probably wasn't over filled so much.

Ok so read the manual and there is a method to checking the oil, drive until up to temp then stop wait 2 mins and check dip stick with car parked on level ground.

Did this this morning and my oil level is 1-2mm above the max on the dip stick so I suspect my issue was a slight oil over fill on the last service.

I will monitor weekly (I pop the bonnet once a week to do fluid + leak checks anyway I didn't spot this earlier as the leak on my one was so small ) and if the issue returns I have an oil syphon pump I can use to take oil out of the dip tube.

Im having oil service on the 19th, will ask them politely to fill half indicator, and give me litre for top up😜.
Hopefully it will not be a problem, as i have noticed everything i ask ad dealers is a problem, i mean there is always "but".
Not to mention im still waiting for my engine cover, 18 months, as it came without!🤨

I'm currently looking for a local independent vag specialist in my area ( Newbury / Basingstoke) who can do servicing work as my car is now over 3 years old cupra seem to want to wash their hands of it, the next service will need to be done may 2025, I also want the Haldrex done properly (gauze removed and cleaned) as well, I may jump on some Golf R groups and see who they use.

My engine cover took just over 24 months to arrive, so hopefully not long to go now, Don't get too excited though as it has no CUPRA branding at all, unlike all my SEAT Cupra's had.

VAG-TEK in Waterlooville did my Haldex properly 👍

Thought to update its been 5days from the service done.
Oil is at its full on dip stick when cold.
Definitely dealership did not follow instructions from handbook for oil level.
No oil traces so far..... Driving everyday roughly 90 miles.
Will monitor further.
But this begs a question was it that engine was still new and breakin was not complete and hence some oil ..... 🤔

Ok update from me, 200 ish miles with some "spirited" driving, no evidence of oil on the outside of the pipe / airbox union.

I haven't checked inside the box and I'll do a dip stick check next work day (my car parking space at home is at an angle so no good for oil level checks)

I'm sure oil is not supposed to be checked cold, run to temp then wait a few mins and dip on a level surface.

Yes Seastormer, you are right. Hot engine and wait 5 min after turned off. The oil level increases significantly after 5-6 min!
