Fitting Racingline R600 Intake issues

I've ordered R600 (with cotton filter) and Intake Hose (Racingline as well for Continental turbo), and based on many videos online for Golf 8R thought this would be a very quick and simple job.

Turns out, on Formentor, there is much less space than on Golf, and fitting the hose was impossible, as it was hitting the brake fluid reservoir, causing vibrations on the pedals in the cabin. I gave up on the hose and kept it stock.

Fitting the R600 was also painful, had to remove the battery, and even without the battery it was an extremely tight fit, preventing me from fitting the little hose that goes on the bottom of the air box housing intended for water draining with a 1-way valve on the bottom, so now It's just a hole in the housing.

That little thing is for directing the water draining, and ensuring no water enters from the bottom of the air box.

My main concern is whether I can drive without this, or should I spend a few more hours trying to make it fit? I found a few people online that run it without it with no problems, and also some of the other intakes (e.g. APR) are designed out of factory not have this fitted.
