aah ok! What are these Chrome Funnels? Heard of them? My mate has an Astra mk4 - he's stuck 2 of them togethor, dunno where the logic was behind that, mind. But is sounds very nice...

Yeah they do go for about £30 but a decent green cotton filter with proven filtration costs about £60 without that crappy shield. Depends how much you love your engine though.

ermm well for a time - I did, but now - I just want it to sound decent :p... ONLY then will I start loving it again... maybe...

It sounds healthy though, considering it's 14years old... Sound waay nicer than an '03 1.2 Corsa idling...

The easiest way to get sound then would be no filter at all lol. Go to halfords or somewhere and see if theyve got a universal induction kit on the shelf.

I beg to differ with that, you can't beat a Vauxhall 3 pot :p

Do K&N do a direct replacement for the standard filter? That should give a bit more noise for minimal effort.

Yeah something like that if all you want is cheap noise. Then you'll need those pieces of shitter pipe like M0rk wrote about to get it mounted into the wing.

try doubling up your std filter mate. Ive messed around with loads of induction kits/filters etc all are **** and seem to destroy the bottom end torque and use more fuel.
Leave your std ring filter there, buy another one the same, mount them exactly one on top of other and seal the interface, then throw the cover on top of it all. youl need to seal the holes that originaly had screws in them in the top/centre of the cover and use longer screws to attatch thru the new higher cover to the engine (make sure it presses down tight for a good seal tho), keep the existing plastic inlet hose at the side and just extend it with pipe down to about the wing area or something to get sum decent cold air in there.By far the best airfilter option for me in the 1.4 engine nice rumbly sound all over and not just when ur flooring it, cheap as chips and doesnt make it drink more fuel or loose the low end torque.

thanks mate!... Sounds like an idea! :) but how do I seal up the box? It's only 1 filter's worth of height? You say stack 2 ontop then do you?

you dont coz with 2 the box wont be closed it will sit about 1 1/2 inch higher and the filter element will be open to the air all round (hence the better sound).all you nead to seal is the joint between the 2 stacked filters (the rubber lip bits) i used some good quality silicone and then taped it up.since its half open now tho u need to make sure the top lid presses down quite hard so the rubber lips of the filters get a good seal.il go out and take a pic of mine 4u i used screws and cable ties to press it down

aah I get you... so it's gonna be like an "exploded" view of it in a way... both of them on show? And I get rid of the pipe? Or run some more down to the wing? WHy the wing may I ask? Why not to the front grille?
