Today - erm actually a few weeks ago - my mate Kaptain Krimbo the Eyephuck Ninja (dont ask its a Germany nickname that has a huge story behind it) sorted me out with a pic from the ring that I forgot about taking. I had to use his phone because mine was dead an I didnt have a charger with me

sorry for being a pain but i am looking at getting spacers but i am gonna keep original cupra r wheels and get thinner tyres on them. how big will i need spacers for them to look good?
I'm not quite sure why you would want to sacrifice grip for the sake of making your wheels easier to curb, but if you want it to look good I would use the biggest spacers you can find. If you want it to be at all drivable but still look beefy I would suggest 15s up front and 20's in back like I have.
Sorry i just read that back and I sound a right ****, but honestly I don't understand why you want narrower tyres. it goes against the whole idea of modifying - ie. making things better. 225/40/18 don't look particularly bad do they?
What's the point in spending money on a Cupra R if you're going to make it handle WORSE? Okay, stretched tyres on a diesel or a 1.2 but a LCR? Might as well get some airbags on it and a massive sound system while you're at it. The whole point of tyres is that you want them to stick to the road, that's why supercars have tyres 2ft wide - the more rubber in contact with the road the bettter.

Well I've just dropped a bit of cash on a pair of new tyres.
I love the Vredesteins, it was a decision between them and the more expensive F1 asymmetrics - but in the end i decided to save another £50 over both and get the Falken 452s
Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta £88 without fitting or delivery (prob around £40 for the pair)
F1 asymmetrics £110ish without fitting or delivery - also a bit of a shoratge of them right now
Falken 452s £80 fitted
I've heard good things so hopefully I won't be disappointed. This will mean I'll be running the Ultrac Sessantas on the back and the 452s on the front

I'm not holding my breath to be honest, she is dire need of an oil change and probably some plugs too. Doubt I'll get around to it on Saturday.
As for 8am, I'm not really looking forward to it. Should be okay by about 11 when I wake up though!
452's are good tyres and that are what I am running on the front currently however I do not think the grip levels will be as good as what you had. Dont get me wrong they grip however knowing their limit is quite difficult so it almost makes you hold back a tad where as with the F1's and now toyo's you know exactly whats going on.

Cheers for that Maz, I bought them for the price at the end of the day, saved a good £50 over anything comparable, but I'm glad to hear people's opinions though. I've not tried T1Rs yet so they might be next. I really love my Vredesteins so it'll take a good tyre to get me out of them. If money was no object I'd have got something else (and for that matter a diff), but as it is I thought I'd try the 452s and spend the remaining money on a rolling road day
Drove the 452s for the first time today, they're pretty good.
Bit disappointed with longitudinal grip (read too much wheelspin hehe), but they seem okay considering I've not put many miles on them, I imagine some of the slipping is down to there still being that new tyre coating feel to them, i've probably not even lost the all of the stickers yet! i haven't really put them through their paces in the corners either so time will tell.
All in all I'm pretty happy with them considering the price was around half that of the ones I wanted!
