correctos mark / glynn

have just ordered me a fuel temp sensor being its only £13 genuine at trade

as when i shut off and wont restart if i undo the coolant cap to release pressure its seems to reduce the time having to wait (might be in my head mind )

other than that it might point to the intank fuel pump - gulp £150 odd trade

a bit of news mind ive had a call yesterday 1st thing - college are refunding me my money ! :)

yeah when it turns up, TPS delivered my part

and going to have a go at fitting tonight - assume its plug and play with the temp sensor

plus as ive got my car now in cardiff , by the time i get home to my uncles garage it whouldnt restart for a lil while and so if fitting it we will see , must remember to fit my under tray more secure , something seems to flap above a certain speed

was also wondering is it worth doing the ECU reset thing (take terminal off for ?? however long )

cheers

I'm not like you guys...
my undertray came off on the motorway due to ar.. "a well known car franchise" not putting it back on right after a service (2 years servicing and MOT came with car) Ive fcked them off now though as i got nowhere with them. And they didnt put a new O ring in the sump plug,so it was dripping oil. Bollocked them for that and still didnt hear anything back off them after going in 3 times. Ended up fixing it myself on the ramps in work. Incompetent b*s-turds..

Rite its seems like car will start if I act like a learner and hold key in longer than needed so starter motor rings and fetch key back a little it will allow revs and keep started , uncle seems to think a crank shaft sensor ? Anyone help

Cheers

well a lil update , fitted the undertray (thanks Mark) and is nat flapping anymore,

although trying to start her up after standing for a long time (all day ) struggles to start

altho this could be to do with the glow plugs as EML came on over weekend once but not since

have also changed the fuel temp sensor and new hoses to and from the sensor (old ones looked worn & fecked still not made any change

altho the ticking / tapping had gone for a bit and now back

am thinking could this be the timing or something slightly out

still carnt work the whole hot start issue , mates hunch is that its the fuel pump intank gone and not giving enough prerssure to restart , as if you hold key on when starting it will eventually runn

still need to find springs and was told golf kits are higher than the cupra tdi's

want mine a little lower but not massivly
cheers

I really wish I could wave a magic wand for you Andrew.

I don't know how much more of it I could take if it were me. I don't know how you've kept your sanity either.

Really feel for you and hope you get there really soon.

One possibility bud...

Read through the whole thread mate, and you seem to have had no luck at all :(

I know you seem to have your mind set on Chlorine being the culprit, but I wouldn't close the case on that one just yet. I live in Ireland, right on the border between North and South and there's alot of dodgy fuel about.

One method rogue traders use around here is using suphuric/hydrochloric acid to remove the dye from laundered red diesel.

This usually leaves a "black sludge" behind which is then dumped.

I wish I was active here when the problem first arose, I would have recommended a pH test on the fuel and more importantly the sludge that poured out to test for high acidity. Obviously the corrosive nature of the fuel would have played a part in knackering your engine, but if the cowboy laundering it didn't remove all of the waste after removing the dye, the black sludge you mentioned is what you would have found.

The waste consists of a multitude of chemical compounds and general gunk left after the process, and would have a chlorine pang to it.

thanks husbandofstinky
which someone would wave some magic

sounds understandable artoir - but the guy who sold it doesnt pay for any of it , he has red on tap too but i didnt want red for obvious reasons he phisically used a garage and filled his containers up , he then sells for pocket money

mark , have asked and was explained they blew the lines through and would have cleaned that too , not spoken to the guy who actually done it yet that was my mate ross , whos friends with sully

is it a good call to get the timing checked with someone who knows vagcom inside out maybe that vag garage in pontuclun

will attempt to look at things on weekend

cheers
