Had a wicked day yesterday part of the DubCulture club stand at Penshurst Place:

Good to see some of the guys from here and some new faces and some lovely cars.

DK sorted these out for me which i popped straight on the car.

Carbon fibre cover for the manifold/dipstick plate.

Thought she looked right at home there, even though she is not a scene car, just a shame my new wheels had not arrived.

Lots more to do. Can't wait to get the polished manifold from DK on. Catch can should be here soon and do it all in one go!

Just got a mk1 cupra R 210 last Friday! I'll be getting one up once I've built enough posts up to start posting pics. Yeah there great fun, finally gave mine a bootful last night on the way home from work and it I'm certainly impressed for a pretty stock car.

Standard door issues. Seal gone on passenger front this time so sorted that today. Should have done it last year when I done the drivers side. Least I had all the bits ready.

Just need a tonne of rain to test now!

So over the weekend I have been busy with another engine bay project. Painting the rocker cover wrinkle black to match the throttle body.

Started by removing it and cleaning it up.

Was easier than I thought. Basically moving charge pipe out of the way by removing bracket and front intercooler pipe, taking off breather hose, moving loom and taking out cool packs, unclip timing cover front and back then removing the 9 bolts front middle and rear.

Was scary seeing it like this...

Then masked it up and gave it three heavy coats in different directions before getting the heat gun on it.

And after 48 hours unmasked it....

Got gasket sealer and new gasket set...

Then removed old gasket set and cleaned up the surfaces of the head and the cover.

Then got to putting her all back together again.

Really happy with it.

Got some anodised bolts and washers to tidy the engine bay up with...

Then this bad boy arrived...

My Saikou Michi oil catch can with drainand 19mm fittings.

So I went to put it where I had planned and came up with a problem. Where I earlier removed the relay box in anticipation for this it turns out the catch can is too big and nowhere to route the hoses with the strut brave nicely in the way. So it was back to the drawing board lol

This then led into a new project in trying to find another location for the catch can. The only real space would be off of the battery cover. However I have already mounted the vacuum reservoir there earlier on when I tidied up above the coil packs.

So I decided the vac res could go where the catch can was going to go. Decided to cut the bracket off of the fuse box and use this to mount the reservoir to.

Seemed to look ok. Next drilled a hole then used one of my anodised bolts to fix the two together...

Then just trimmed up the hoses to length and plumbed it back in...

Now leaving a nice big gap ready to mount the catch can.

Awright mate, do you have a link to the bolts/washers you bought. I like the idea but might get the blue washers.
Which crinkle paint did you use for the rocker cover?? as I have to remove mine this time home to check the cam / followers

And this is the paint. One can has done me rocket cover and throttle body.
