Added my Guy Martin sticker today. Sad but fun. That must tip me over the 300bhp mark now surely

Been making my loom up tonight and I'm really impressed with it. When it's all measured up and fitted properly tomorrow and connected I'm going to do a thread about it I think. Will be very pic heavy but will be a proper job with an oe looking loom hopefully that can be easily plugged and un plugged from the vents if needed.

So just to get up to date I have the s3 illuminated vents fitted, working and properly wired up.

Here's how I done it, and done it properly!

Ordered a few bits off of eBay for about £20.

That included finding someone breaking an s3 and asking them to cut the vent plugs out of the interior loom.

1mm wire, butt connectors, piggy back and male and female connectors to crimp and tesa tape to tidy it up.

Plugs from s3 loom to go straight into the vents....

Measured the lengths of cable up and started to crimp the connectors on the wires and join it all together....

Then once happy start taping it up for that oem loom look....

Finished loom....

From looking at it from left to right you will see the plugs for passenger vent, middle double vent, driver side vent then the two wires that will go to the headlight switch.

One is going to the switched live and the other is the earth.

The next was routing it which involved taking the interior out....

1) radio out, pulled forward using radio keys.

2) steering console dash remove. Removed fuse cover on end of dash, remove torque screws holding fuse board to dash, remove 3 lower torque screws under the steering column...

3) glove box out. Remove panel on end of dash like the fuse cover. Remove torque screws connecting to glove box, open glove box and remove 4 upper torque screws, remove one torque screw under I've box.

Now you have easy access I started by tying the centre loom if to some wire and pulling it up through the hole I drilled in the vent duct...

With the radio out I fed the passenger loom through to the glove box side then over to the vent and plugged it in....

Then done the same for the driver side one under the steering column and plugged it in...

366bd4d9b4b4bd3ca1f2ed24ad579a45.jpg

I then chased the loom along part of the interior loom and cable tied it to tidy it all up on both sides....

That's the loom ready to be wired into the plug.

Next was to wire it in to the back of the main headlight plug so it comes on with the rest of the interior lights etc. one wire to the switched live (left side of plug blue and grey wire) and the other to the earth (right side of plug brown wire)

Currently they are pushed into the connector and taped in place as I still have a w8 light and pillar gauge to wire up so will all be more permanent when I do everything. You get the idea though!

Very happy. And all properly wired to plugs so things can be easily removed etc for access or whatever.

Good little project that I thoroughly enjoyed and love the results!!

Just had a go at changing the exhaust gasket between the cat and rear sections and the bolts are not so good. Won't budge and just falling to bits and rounding off. Looks like a grinder is coming out to change the gasket!

Mechanically yes touch wood. She's filthy again though but I will have all day Friday when my littlun is at nursery to clean inside and out and getting her somewhere near presentable. Just hope weather holds off till Sunday after that.

What's the plan with parking up etc? How's it work? Hell of a lot of a turn out by the looks of things!

Right so I took this morning as a chance to get the old girl ready for the SCN@AmD RR day.

Complete exterior clean. Most of the hard work is done as the car is protected on the outside with Gtechniq c1 and two coats of Exo. The wheels are protected with c5 wheel armour. And the glass with g1.

Now to hope the weather holds off and she still looks this nice Sunday morning. She won't be driven until then anyway but today was the only time I had to do the outside due to working nights this weekend :-(

Interior will be done tomorrow.

Thanks guys really appreciate the comments.

Be nice to meet a load of people at the RR day tomorrow. See some of these lovely motors in the flesh and get to know some faces from here.

Really looking forward to it.
