I bought a brand new gt2x kit from a company in american through awesome gti, i fitted it after i rebuilt my engine. I ran the engine for a 1000miles without coming on boost before dropping the car off at awsome gti to get a custom map on. Then it all started, awesome couldnt get any boost and could figure out why, they swapped everything until they decided it must be there map so they sent it chip wizards for the map! Months later the guy from chip wizards said the fault lies with the TURBO! so awesome gti got the car back to replace the turbo. The company they got the turbo off didnt want to no at all so awesome gti got me a new ko3s hybrid frrom turbo dynamics, car went back to chip wizards and got a map! all this took around 6 months! Cant say its a good turbo and that company is rubbish! sorry for the long post just thought i tel my story about a gt2x turbo

well what was the fault then? what was diagnosed to determine it was an issue with the turbo

some what an empty statement or accusation I find to write off the turbo without a proper diagnosis from a turbo specialist to state what the exact fault was

was the actuator checked etc?

even with my issues (which were manifold related and CR turbo's fitting the incorrect actuator spring) but this was not a fault of the turbo itself at all. Rob and myself have not had any issues with this unit at all and so far, so good

benny I just bought Beatties old set up...Shall be here thursday if he pulls his finger owt and Posts it..

Will- ive made a for sale post in the sale section take alook open to offers

Got all the stuff tonight, will be posted out tomorrow as promised

personally I would not buy another GT2x :)

I would also advise you do some hybrid treatment to it....ATP's quality is not that great. I would suggest at least a 360 thrust bearing is fitted to prolong the life of the turbo

I have a bran new Mocal oil cooler sitting in my garage if you are interested in buying it?

best of luck with it and I look forward to seeing the results :D

I said the same, for the price of the hybrid treatment, well worth it.

The gt2x went to turbo dynamics to see if they could do anthing with it, i wasnt given the full information to the fault of the turbo but they did say it was the worst turbo they have ever seen with nothing inline and nothing they could do to repair it because it would never create boost! so i image they checked the actuator

Ive done loads of searchs on here and on Ed38 It seem its a very good turbo...Just the Build quality that lets the side down from what ive read up on..
But nothing Cr turbos Could'nt possible sort out i should imagen...

Any gain is a bonus to me and it seem a fair few people have made really good power from them and ran high boost and never had a problem with it..Some up to 2 years hard play...

Im very happy with what ive bought and beattie I love you :D :D

then all I would say is, it was a one off, as with it going to CR turbo's, both Robs and mine, they seemed to think it was ok, and carried out the hybrid treatment

All the other GT2x kits there have been and that I have read about, there has been no real complaints (as far as I am aware:))

poor show not accepting it back, even if it was proven by turbo dynamics (what ever the fault was) that there was a fault with the unit

was it bought from ATP directly or through a 3rd party? shame you had a faulty unit, as it ruined your perception of the turbo. By all means I am not shouting from the roof tops about the unit, but it does the job well enough....for now;)

I only hope Danny is pleased with the overall result:)

With the 2.5 atp tip he use's with the usal silicone bend and theres loads of room near the linkage..

most people use that 3'' inlet think from atp...and some use a forge one..

i got everything of beattie bar the map for it to bolt straight on...i could use my Jabba map for the time being just that i won't kill it ...Will be hard tho..

Right Im going to get it refurbed and a 360 degree thrust bearing....It should be here tomorrow...

Ive done some searching and read the full jamies gt2x thread and ive desided not to get a 1.5mm Oil pinion on the turbo to reduce the oil pressure...

ive also buying jamies Mocal 13 row oil cooler & a Oil catch tank aswell..So that should be here soon..

My Spec on the ibiza will be engine wise:

Atp Elimantor Gt2x Turbo
Atp Manifold
Atp 2.5 Turbo intake pipe
Forge 007P resirc with yellow spring
3'' Downpipe and De-cat(heat Wrapped)
2.5 Milltek catback system
Jetex Air filter
13 Row Mocal Oil cooler
Oil catch tank
4 Bar Fpr
LCR/S3 Injectors
3'' maf
Helix Vr6 clutch and fiblanza Lightened G60 Flywheel
N112,n249 & Sai Resistor Removal
Fmic with uprated 63mm Pipe Work

Is there anything else I should Add or change while i am doing this?I see a few Gt2x owners have got rid of the N75 and Changed it to a MBC or EBC?Is it worth while me doing this?

As for the Guages i have a 30psi boost guage and a Oil Temp gauge and sender..Would you recommend me changing any of them?
My overall goal is to hit on or near the 280bhp & 300ft-lb mark any more would be a bonus really..But its not the figures That matter is how it puts the power down and how it drives...

spot on there mate

I have a Greddy EBC sitting in my garage which I will be fitting soon, depending on timing, I can sell you the MBC at a later date too

Bill himself was impressed by the MBC, as regardless to what anyone says, the MBC is a massive improvement over the N75. I have always found the N75 not liking high amounts of boost, it simply cannot control it (despite it only being a solenoid)

game on fella:D

what FMIC do you have? THS or some kind of home made one ?

THS or home made will be enough for 300 and should cope fine with the gt2x......although be interesting to see some logs

if anything, mine is over kill with running the Pro Alloy kit
