Think I was cutting one of the stripped nut/studs off the down pipe when Dave took the pic. Not a nice job

We also sorted the stripped bolt hole in the turbo too....

New bits....

The repare kit (home made tap wrench BTW ).

Drilled and tapped ready for the helicoil (forgot to take a pic when we were drilling )

The clean up.

Finished.

Nice! I notice someone else has the dreaded "My turbo just came loose and now it sounds like a tractor!" problem
Was thinking about that shim to lock the bolts in place, but somehow after fitting my Forge FMIC the bolts stopped comming lose, I guess the cooler running engine did the trick.

Really? Seems like a very common fault on the 1.8T, had my bolts come loose atleats 5-6 times before I fitted the bigger FMIC

If I had to take off the manifold again I'd just use Nordlock washers.....
