I've got a few days off so thought I'd do a more to the car.
Nice early start this morning, It's was a bit cold though :(

Fitted a cold air feed

And made the first template for my MK2 heat shield

I also popped up to the local VW dealers to order the foam base for the Recaros but their network was down so he could'nt get me an ETA on delivery, apparently the VW factory closes down the middle of next week for Christmas so if theres not one in the country I'll probably have to wait till the start of January to get it so I might wait till the new year to order it.

Off to AmD tomorrow for a check over and a chat

Looking good mate :)

Heat shield will be mint once done I'm sure it'll be the best one available for the MK1, like the DK splitter.. I might want one of those btw, once I'm happy with the new ride height. Won't be until the new year sometime though so don't worry anytime too soon.

Just a 'chat' tomorrow yeah? ;)

Just a chat Darren?

So much for just a chat.... :D

We'll one thing lead to another and before I knew it there was laptop pluged into the car :D

The cars not been running right for a few month's now but I've not got round to sorting it, a couple of weeks ago we did some logs which should there was a problem, Hoping is was either a boost leak or the engine was'nt getting enough air I went over all the hse clips and thightened them and fitted the PiperX cone filter, this all seamed to help a bit but it still wasnt right, Boost came in later than you'd expect and very aggressively then after 5k it would loose boost, gain it and loose it again, Once the Cone filter was on you could hear the DV dumping the boost, Kenny said straight away something wasnt right and started flashing the ECU and uploading a new map

The boost comes in earlier now than it did, it's not quite as aggressive but it now holds it to red line again :D

Whist I was there and the guys were a bit quite I decided to have the car raised a bit.
No pictures yet but the rear has been raised 10mm and the front by 5mm, the rear end felt a lot better on the way home.

Before being raised

I also got to drive Shaun's new Vauxhall Astra VXR, Very nice car apart from a few little "design" flaws but the full Miltek exhaust made up for them, Sometimes I hate driving new cars, it makes the LCR feels so old

We did'nt dyno it today but I'll run some logs soon. TBH I'm not that bothered about figures, so long as it pulls well and it's fast then I'm happy :D

Not 100% on the size of the filter, it's about that though.

Knew it would go further than just a chat. Sounds good though mate, glad it's sorted. Bring some cigars round and we can do a smoke test as James recommended. Iv been wanting to do one on mine for a while as I am adamant there's a leak somewhere.

I hear you on that statement about driving new cars making these old boys feel even older. It's what gets me looking at getting a newer car :(

New = more complicated, more expensive when they go wrong, more expensive to mod. Nothing wrong with our cars, just make them faster than the new cars your looking at :)

You didn't really have a day off mate you were more or less working for AmD yesterday ;)

Glad you're pleased with the way the car is performing now, pulling hard and holding boost is what we all want every time we get in these cars :D

Smoke test is a good idea just to be sure mate, especially if El is looking to get it done aswell.

Phew... It's nice to see one the very best cars on here looking (just a little) dirty :D

Glad to hear that the car is running well again Darren. I think I remember that you had the AMD map as aposed to the Revo Linear one that AMD also offers? Clearly you're happy with AMD's map? Their customer Service sounds A+.

Yesterdays rain washed most of the dirt off but there was still quite a bit hanging around.
Even snow foam couldnt shift it.

Bit on the right has only had snow foam on it, The left side was washed.
