Custom Powerflow VS Milltek???

My uncle owns an exhaust place where he mainly deals in custom made powerflow etc and has offered me a family rate on a full custom powerflow system for my 2005 ibiza FR.

like most, I AM drawn to the name of Milltek and will spend the extra money on a milltek IF it is going to produce a significant advantage over the likes of a custom powerflow but I just wanted to get a truthful opinion on whether the milltek is worth it over the likes of a powerflow??

The car is going for a remap to stage 1 and I'd like to get as many supporting mods done beforehand so to make the most out of the remap so all the help I can get here will be greatly appreciated?

P.S. I know I can ask my uncle or I can ask milltek directly to compare and I know that both will back their own products so that's why I'm asking genuine users with experience of each.
I also know that those with millteks will back them to the hilt and same with powerflow BUT.....can someone with a technical knowledge explain to me whether either is better, worse or indifferent??

Thanks in advance!

Which part of the exhaust system are we talking about, only cat-back or full turbo-back? I have full milltek turbo-back exhaust under my car, so will talk about my own experience with them.

Milltek is not the loudest exhaust around, you won't hear them much when driving at constant speed. But the sound when you press the throttle is great, really addictive :)

They are also relatively expensive, but you get bang for you bucks in terms of:

-Great fitment
-Great quality stainless steel
-Great looks, and the chrome on the tips is of superb quality

If I were you I'd go directly to stage 2, with full turbo-back exhaust and corresponding software. And yes, milltek is definately worth the money :)

I've got a Milltek turbo back with sports cat and resonator...it sounds nice, but does not drone. Quality is alright, although fitment is terrible, virtually everyone I've known to buy a milltek has a story of how many attempts it took to sit it right, not just on Ibiza's. Once they're on though, they're good. If I was going to go for an 'off the shelf' exhaust again, I'd go Piper, for my moneys worth.

No offence but i wouldnt have a powerflo just because they so loud but if thats what you want then go for it

powerflow is custom so it doesnt have to be loud its what ever you ask for loud, quiet in between thats one of the advantages of going custom as well as choosing your own tailpipes.

ive never had a miltek or powerflow but i did have a blueflame exhaust and i rated that alot fitted without any problems at all and was cheaper than miltek the blueflame was boomy at first but it settled in and weirdly got quieter but sounded much better.

im with chino though ive not heard a bad word said about piper.
you never said if your car is a tdi or 20vt?

I'm not after anything loud, I only want it to look decent but more importantly, give the best possible gains that an exhaust can give when added along with a remap and a few other silly things.

Forgetting poor fit of the milltek and stereotypical "loudness" of a powerflow, will both exhausts do basically the same in terms of performance gains??

And whichever system I would be getting, I would be getting a turbo back system with decat.

yes unless the person making the exhaust puts excessive bends in which is highly unlikely or uses a bore size under 2.5 which is also unlikely.
sounds like what your after is a resonated turbo back i would without any question go with your uncle if you know his work is good.
just say you want two silencers and a 100 cell cat or 200 cell cat if thats what he uses should give what your after im sure he will know what sort of level of noise you want and if required could alter it if you wasnt happy.

Ahh okay no problem! He has a great reputation here in Northern Ireland, I just didnt want him to convince me on an inferior exhaust as I'm just not too well clued in when it comes to these kind of things.

I will most likely go with him and see if he can tailor me an exhaust to the exact specs I need

As said above, you want it with mandrel bends rather than compression bends if you get a powerflow, and 2.5" bore, and that's equal to what the Milltek is.
