I think we shud put this discussion to bed. We are never gonna agree on everything, everyone has their own opinion. U can pick early evos up for the same price as a lcr. But i love my lcr, hus cares if thie getti. Old? Not me. If i had the money to insure a skyline r33 or a supra i would have 1 ov these but i dont. But my opinion is lcr is the best car out ther thats not jap.......apart from a new focus rs but cant afford 1 of these lol

I think the new Focus RS looks chavvy

I think the discussion is going a little of topic.

[rant on]
At the end of the day its only natural for people to like certain brands of cars. We like SEAT / cars hence we actively participate on the forum. I am sure Vauxhall owners are the same so as Dan said cars are cars.

What really annoys me is the SEAT bashing and people who come on here saying they would rather have x car than x car and so forth. I am not saying SEAT are the best but if you have a LCR and would prefer something else then change!

I would go as far to say people tend to keep SEATs/LCRs longer than most other car groups because they are great cars. Unique on the road. I still get people asking me "whats that".
[/rant off]

I believe the LCR offers a lot more value than a VXR and is everybit as good as a package if not better.

Totally understand Brad dude but the only reason we have LCRs is cos they have an Audi engine with Golf suspension, come on lets admit this. For me, yeh a car is a car too but you have to factor in badge kudos aswell. I honestly had no problem with SEAT badging purely cos of the above sentence, and i would know that my car had the beans under the engine if and when i needed it..etc etc.

Vauxhalls are generally driven by chavs- everyone knows this. With a Vauxhall engine and crappy handling to go with it.

I will still say, hand on heart standard/standard a LCR 225 can beat a VXR if driven well.

Thats a fairly broad statement mate, to be honest speaking for myself here now the reason i bought my LCR was i saw one a few years ago, probably not long after LCR was launched driving towards me, black one and it looked well good, remember thinking at time that they looked very aggressive and sporty and have liked them since, when time was right and i could afford it i went out and bought one. To be honest it could have had any badge on the front and i wouldnt have cared, to me it looked **** hot and drove nice.
The fact is yeh they share many common parts with other group cars but i think seat pulled a blinder really by picking and choosing the best bits from the others parts bins and also out sourcing some better parts along the way, how many other of the vag range vw,audi or skoda came with brembo as standard?.
Dont think ive ever thought im pleased its got the audi s3/tt engine in as its so reliable, im just pleased that they had a free hand to build a good car. Yes it was cheaper to buy than the audi s3 or the vw despite sharing many components, but if it looked or drove shite then i wouldnt have bought it. I think the LCR was a win win situation for seat and blew audi & vw completely out the water both in terms of cost and performance. Something which i think they are not very likely to let happen again.

I've read this whole thread for entertainment and EL on page 2 has been the only member to mention anything about mods to put the power down. You can have 400bhp but if you can't transfer the power to the tarmac then a 200bhp car that can will ruin you. IMO update the LCR suspension and engine mounts first, then go on the quest for more power. I went Stage 1 first but if I did it all over again I'd sort the handling and traction out before hand.

Generally everyone goes for more power. Your dead right - I did suspension, bushes, tyres and arbs before I got a remap.

Completely agree with you Jim, and i wasnt getting funny earlier. I just dont like Vauxhalls so my rant will always be biased and anti VXR lol.
The looks sold me, until i realised what engine was inside, plus how comfortable and sprty the interior is too.........even today there are some peeps that dont know what the hell it is

Vxr hhhmmmmm. If its not a Vxr its a focus st , it's not that I dont like them just think there to common , had a play with a Vxr in the summer and he couldn't come past me and I couldn't get away , untill the bends came then he bottled it .but other then that it would be neck and neck . Depend on the launch

agree 100% too common for my liking now,

Simple answer to this question = Stage 1 LCR all the way..

Had many many blasts against my mates old VXR when my old LCR was stage 1 and always ended with the same result. If they were both Stage 1 it would be insteresting though as they make about the same once mapped..

If your that bothered about beating a remapped astra vxr, buy a mk2 cupra/k1 and stage 1 map that and wave bye bye to the vxr
