well the caddy is coming on nicely now, been putting in the hours on it, probably 25 hours since its been inside...its a long and slow progress but its getting reasonably straight now, unfortuntly ive only got old scabby photos

got quite a few wounds too from this project already too! lol... sliced a nice chunk out of my thumb with angle grinder... stuck a screw driver into my other thumb and also burnt my had and arm with nitromorse! its seemed to have scarred my skin as its now a different colour???

going well and yes way too much welding to care for it and certainly enough to get a suntan and arceye - eww that hurts

use/buy a decent auto dark mask - cheap enough from states in fleabay etc and worth it in long run

best bit about welding is if you go wrong - grind it out and start again

ooooh and quit counting hours (depresses ya) and save the camera for the car ya ponce !!! :p

what id really like is a gt tdi out of an old passat..bigger turbo..bigger injectors..looking at maybe 190bhp with intercooler

you are kidding? Mine pulled 186 on standard turbo and injectors. You'd be looking at 240ish with big turbo and injectors. :D Especially in something as light as that...

been off today myself getting a move on with my patchwork arches

used 2 tools well 3 actually that made me think would be VERY handy for your little project crezz

Air Compressor (cheaper and gruntier than electric)

Rotary air cut off tool i got mine de-shielded for easier access

and these puppies i have on an old small right angle air drill

http://www.directa.co.uk/site/scripts/product_browse.php?product_id=16518

they don't last long but small and easy to use and literally rip it back to bare metal even through filler/paint/underseal

yeah i want a compressor but they are quite pricey, you can get a 50ltr one from local motorfactors for £175 but its just not man enough, would power a DA sander for about 2mins and then have to let the compressor catch up...also 50ltr one is suitable for doing primer but not finishing coats for spraying.

can't beat it for ease of cutting and chopping etc

mind you like you say to get a decent man enough one is expensive

one of the advantages of using a workshop one i guess, even with the motor bashing away behind the workshop it still keeps pumping out at full steam
