nowt wrong with a rat :):) but must admit it's way too new for that look really ;)

flipped the rear beam yet ? :) instead of an abf why not go for a smoothed bay polished up tdi ?

lot less parts and those that are there are just aching to be polished up so simple it's unreal

or better still instead of flipping the axle - replace it and give it some stick with this beauty

loving your input flapper..was gona choose an abf as there easy to get hold off...what id really like is a gt tdi out of an old passat..bigger turbo..bigger injectors..looking at maybe 190bhp with intercooler

will be doing the axle at a later date so its easier to do body work and such..and also whilst the axle is off i will be widening it 2" so 6j wheels will fill the arches

getting hold of em is easy but as you know they are not exactly easy to tune and repair but then i know worse but then i've just finished a standard 3.5 rover v8 rebuild (not mine) with all parts costing 2/3 of what a set of ABF pistons cost me :(

with the low weight that picky has adding power of any quantity will be interesting anyway to be honest

before you chop up a good axle to widen consider what wheels you want as a hud/disc spacer/adapter might sort out tracking all at same time and a lot safer

not tempted at a wiki-wiki pick up then :p

if you really want a challenge the next rod is a smooth modern street style with a bmw 740 v8 in it which i just love the look of open bayed

axle isint too hard to get hold of as the chap i got the caddy from has about 60 caddys...and choosing an engine is a long way off yet..ill stick with the 1.6d for now.. im lucky tho as i have a 5 speed box

carry on no probs - love the caddy idea myself anyway

i'm sure i saw a china blue mk1 golf thread recent somewhere where the guy had modified all the suspension mounts and chassis legs higher to slam it so low it was sick

for ref : both my ABF and the mk3 tdi box i used were 100mm CDA / ASD

weren't the earlier boxes available with both 90/100 looks at a glance like an early box could be flange swapped to 100mm but still looking for a 90mm 16v flange direct fit

saying that looking at 1990 caddy only listing 90mm mmmmm

I can never remember 020/02a etc i just call the one a 'maestro' gearbox and prefer to go by the 3 digit code on them ASD / CDA etc

you'll have to mail me what it all is at present and i can set a base on parts and go from there - i got all etka's so easy enough to check
