I'd have the valve tested with a vacuum tester. If it opens, holds and closes correctly then it's not the valve but then you'll have to start looking at the cooler being blocked or the change over flap being faulty.
Just thought I'd run this past you all... I spoke to the guy who did my map (CC Tuning in Burton) and he said that he'd charge me £20 for removing the EGR (seems reasonable) from the map but strongly advised against deleting the EGR.
Basically said that the egr can act as a pressure release valve for the turbo if it gets hot or the veins stick. And that if my engine is the 2.0 tdi bkd 2004-2006 (it is) then he said not to do it.
That would the be the case for any engine that uses a vnt turbo and an egr system then and there are thousands running an egr delete with no issues at all.
It's a pretty standard request with a map these days to be honest.
If the turbo feels any stress then it drops into limp mode.
Anyone know of a garage in the north east that will fit an egr delete, remove the cooler and map it out?
Took my egr off to clean it. Managed to bend the cooler pipe then strip the bolts holding it on! On a positive note it runs better without the gasket with the smaller hole!
