600 odd miles out of 45ish litres ;)

You sod, go away :ban:

I tried that in my old 1.4 and oh how painfull it was! Managed to get 440 miles from a vented tank till the trip said '5' miles left. That was half motorway, half b roads.

Trouble is, I never need to go on motorways... Only 30s or 40s... :thumbd:

It is so bloody tempting to get an FR

Fancy a swap Ross? :p

Probably get less mpg on the motorway with a 1.4 because at 80 mph the revs are sitting at 4k and the redline is at 6.5k, so using loads of fuel.

And i would like to swap for about half an hour just to see what the 1.2 drives like, but not on a permanent basis ha ha.

Well 30 minutes is plenty. Gives me enough time to run away with it

Anyone who lives near me, please let me test drive your FR :p

Bide you time, i was desperate to get a faster car for ages, but i just kept looking until the right one came along for the right price. Don't make a rush decision and buy a car that is older/more miles/not as good condition as yours.

Okay so I just filled her up to the brim with petrol. I'm going to drive very calmly and low revs for this tankful to see how much my MPG differs... I hate having no MPG trip!

I'm trying to estimate the MPG. Currently I get 300 miles from a tank. I think a tank is 45L, however reckon I play it safe and only use 43L.

At 43L (9.46 imperial gallons) and 300 miles, I'm getting roughly 31-32mpg. I town drive (5-6mile journeys) 2-4 times per day. Has anyone else got MPG figures to compare?
Right Chris, it's me and you in an mpg race. :funk:

I filled up (didn't vent the tank) today at £134.9 for BP unleaded.

The last time I tanked it up to the brim I got 334.5 miles as recorded by Fuelly. Unfortunately for me, back then fuel only cost 129.9 so this tank is a bit more costly!

I don't expect to reach 334 again, as the above included a long motorway/A road run from Stockport to Middlesbrough, whereas I've no long journeys planned just now, only endless town running.

Hmm, can't say I've ever noticed that. I'll have a look tomorrow.

What do you do, press and hold it and it purges air out of the tank?

I apologise for what may be a daft question, is there any dangers to it with regard to fuel spillage? I.e. does the fuel nozzle still click off at the pumps or does it just fill until you end up wearing it.

Hey guys, my average MPG in 2011 so far is 39.44 i usually get about 330 ish from a full tank most i've had was 341!

Driving to and from work every week, 7 miles either way. Drive to work @ six ish, through a 30mph for 3.5 miles and 3 miles on 60mph bypass, followed by half mile at 30. Driving home the same route but at half 2/3 in the morning so considerably colder air, plus little traffic :)

Hmm, well we can live in hope that some rather fine SCN member comes and answers our questions... or we'll just have to ask in the general chat.

Either way, I'm intrigued now!

Fill the tank to the brim until the click, take the nossle out, push the rubber button until all the air hisses out then fill up until it clicks again.

It simply releases air that has been stores in the tank over time. This 'space' in the tank allows for the expansion of fuel on hot weather. If you drive long distances then fine, but if you do small journeys and leave the car out in the sun with a full vented tank, not great.

are you all talking about 1.2's??
on a full tank in mine the most i ever got was 450 but then ran out 100 metres from the petrol station, that was mixed driving of motorway, town and A roads.

i normally get to about 360 miles before the light pings at me, then normally fill up around 385-400.

That about what i get. but that was from a vented tank until reserve!
Just taken my cold air feed and filter off and put standard airbox back on in an effort to try boost the mpg!
