Mty I agree but at the cost of a dmf ?

Yh thats a good point mate, it does add to the cost a lot, but one of CG's supposed "fast road clutch kits" only costs £200 plus £300 for a DMF that's cheaper than a helix clutch kit on it's own. Like i said if i could get 25,000 miles for £500 and the clutch could take 240/250lb/ft torque with no slip, then i think i'd be cool with that, i only do about 8k a year in my leon so thats 3 years use.
Obviously the clutch slips now it's worn but what was it like over the 25k? Did it slip then or was it fine?

It was fine afaik. Butva helix One would last double that...... Get OEM kit. I'm running 270 threw mine, was mint not a single sign of slipping.until.I started doing 2nd gear launches, and costs 140. Be better than the cg scrap

Do you know if the OEM clutch is the same for the LC's AUQ engines as it is for the BAM engined R's like yours though buddy? I'd be happy getting OEM replacement if that's upto the job, but i need to be 110% sure it's not going to slip/going to last at 240lb/ft as i haven't got a ramp or pit to fit it myself, so getting it fitted at my mates garage is the big part of the cost really, even though it's mates rates etc. The cost of the clutch isn't really an issue, i'd be happy to pay upto £300ish for one (plus a new DMF on top) but obviously i'd rather not pay out a fortune for an uprated unit if the OEM will do. Cheers

I dont have any experience to share on clutch kit as yet but to do the clutch a f'in ballache to say the least, i have completed fitting mine today, used the Awesome GTI BAM engine clutch kit and its not a job id like to repeat so personally id advise if possible try and save up and get the best for your budget.

Yh matey that's my point, i'd rather pay £600 for a helix clutch if that's what is needed than fit a cheap one that's not going to last and then have to get a better one fitted a few months down the line. My mate will fit it cheap for me, but don't want to take the p*ss asking him to redo it a few months later. After all, when he's doing my clutch he could be doing a customers car instead and earning twice as much etc

I had one of their paddle clutches fitted to a diesel civic, the service on the day was good. The clutch never failed during the following 28k miles I put on the car, however the car was a PITA in town traffic. The judder in second and third where a pain on a daily basis, if I went for one again it would be a fast road set up rather than a paddle.

1. which would be best for my 1.9tdi leon fr mk1 that is re-mapped to 185bhp 300lb/ft?
2. how many of each kit have you sold roughly and what has the feedback been like?
3. what sort of average life span are you looking at?
4. what amount of power can these kits handle?
5. how much for fitting?
6. what does your warranty cover and how long does it last?

The CG Motorsport 6 paddle competition clutch kit = £280.00
The dual mass flywheel = £299.00
The LUK concentric slave cylinder £50.00
or the complete set = £599.00

we also make a South bend alternative
This consists of The 6 paddle sprung clutch kit
The LUK slave cylinder
and Our single mass flywheel
All built by our company
CG Motorsport
= £700.00
This is only sold as a complete unit as we custom make these parts (not the slave)

Hi Everyone sorry for the delay in replying we have been away at a Motorshow in Germany.

Sorry to hear you went to darkside Matt, we have now had a complete overhaul of our pricing structure.

We are currently running an offer where the 1.9 TDi kit is
£575 for the 6 paddle kit with the SMF - The LUK Slave is a further £50
£600 for the 5 paddle kit with the SMF - The LUK Slave is a further £50
£700 for our brand new and exclusive 8 paddle Kit with SMF, which offers as near to a natural drive whilst been able to take paddle level torque.

To answer your questions
1) We would always be looking to put anyone who is remapped to 300lbs/feet into a paddle clutch as although a stage 1 kit can take the power in most instances we have heard reports of some cars slipping (although this is driver and vehicle dependent.) so we like to offer kits that are as watertight as our guarantee.
2) We are currently selling these in tens. There is some feedback on the kits in the Briskoda forum... ww w.briskoda.net/forums/topic/249851-cg-motorsport-personal-review/ check it out
3)Lifespan is always driver and car dependent, some of these kits have been in cars and still are after 4 years.
4) Our stage 3 kit is guaranteed to 420lbs/ft, some companies will quote a lot higher but we are conservative with our figures to make sure our guarantee is as strong as our kit.
5) Anyone buying the CG Motorsport SMF kit can get the full fitting including the gearbox oil change - usually £20, for £225.
6) Our warranty is a 12 month mechanical warranty against failure of the parts and does not cover general wear. To put this into prospective Exedy only offer 90 days on their sports kits.

Sorry again for not replying to this thread sooner. We are primarily clutch people with 20 years experience of the game and we are not box pushers, so if anyone has any further questions, queries or just wants some free clutch technical/advice help please PM me directly through here.

27,000 miles... you must be a good driver!!! Thats 1901 laps of the Nurnburgring... just to highlight these are serious clutches.

We do not rebuild any sports clutches all are brand new kits manufactured in house.
