I've got the Mk4 Golf TIP and it's been on for over a year without this problem, but it could be one of those things.

Shortly i'll be running an LCR TIP so we'll see if it was the TIP as thats further away from the MAF.

Cheers Colin... Yeh thats why I was a bit worried it wasnt the Lambda as I knew you replaced it just before I got it.

Had 11 months faultless driving then get three problems... they say things come in 3's!!

BTW, I'll have to send you some new pics and specs as I think you'll like it, and when I'm next down Awesome GTI might even pop in to take you out in it lol. It'll feel fast compared to the *cough* Diesel *cough*.

Right, fitted the new Lambda today and the car didn't throw up any new faults. The revv's don't drop off as fast however they will still drop off to nothing, however the problems not as bad as before.

I don't know if the car has had this all the time or not as it would be hard to find it unless you have your clutch right down the the floor for a few seconds after bringing the car up to boost.

Could it be anything to do with the throttle body been gummed up with oil? I've just changed to synthetic oil and have never cleaned out the throttle body before.

Have you spoke to any companies about it? I'm going to scan and log the car tomorrow, do a few more things and if its still there either get to the bottom of it or sell it! lol.

Need to get to the bottom of it, as I'm too fussy just to leave it. Was it only since your removed the throttle body you got it, had you done anything before then?

craig check your wiring, this is how mine looked after driving through some water.
The third connector was totally corroded and broken off. the lambda sensor was still giving partial readings, the dealer never picked up on it but I went through the wiring with a fine comb as I wanted it sorted.

i spoke to greig at vagtech but because im a mate they dont charge me which means they dont put much effort in either, you no how it is!

Never dont any logs tho!

im going to check the lamba sensor conections tomorrow! ive had #2 off and that wasnt corroded but not #1!!

HoocH

Hi Phil,

Going to unplug the MAF and see if it still does it, I want to get rid of every problem before fitting a big turbo set up, which will include a new 3" MAF + MAF Tube.

Brendy - Third connection? I've replaced both the front and back sensors and checked and cleaned both plugs (male and female on each sensor) is there anymore plugs for the Lambda system?

my car isnt running philw so i cant try it with maf disconnected! checkd my other lamba sensor plug and its fine!

Woohoo, two lambda sensors and four spark plugs later my car throws up no faults at all... and after disconnecting the MAF i couldn't get the car to stall so guess it's slightly failing.

Not a problem though as the new turbo will require a new 3" set up!

I'm happy again lol...

If you want to be clever, swap the oil breather for the DV connection on the TIP. DV is further from the MAF which is apparently the cause when venting back through the tip.

Yeah its too close to the DV connection. I did swap the oil breather for the DV when i had my relocation kit and that helped.
