Me too! I've joined the BABLO club (broken additional brake light owners club).
Went to check today and my crack is exactly the same as the pic in post 2.
Car is 4515 miles 1.2 TSi +DSG Delivered October 2013.
Rang SEAT CS and raised a case. This means that I get a callback in 48 hrs and then arrange to take it to a dealer where they will inspect it.
Not really interested in looking at the forum but asked that members let CS UK know so they could log the problem and see any patterns and issue a recall. I have previously been told the threshold for doing this is just 8 calls. Phone on 0800 22 22 22 M-F 0830 - 1730.

They did tell me that I had a recall on Wind Noise Service Pack. Not that I had noticed any wind noise. What's that all about then?

Just a thought on this - people with broken lights; how enthusiastically do you close the boot? If you slam it often, there's a fair amount of force being put through all of the components. I haven't had a look at the inner workings of the light personally, but the area around the washer is obviously the weakest spot because of the nozzle. Is there a possibility that the pipe supplying washer fluid is too stiff or becoming trapped, and is pushing the nozzle outwards each time you close the boot, hence bending and eventually cracking the lens?

Here's my sad tale of lack of support and service from the local dealer:

No warranty claim as “You had tried to prise it off to change a bulb!”
Duh “they are LEDs and so I’d return it if one had gone”.
"Well the stress marks are there"
" and so are there marks on 2 on your forecourt!"

“If we send it back to SEAT then they’ll reject it and we have to pay” .

"What about all the others"

" we don’t know of any others."

Etc etc.

So claim goes off to SEAT CS.

Age 10 months mileage 4500. How's about that then?

This dealer is about to lose a customer on the strength of that

Let's see what SEAT CS say now?

It's about time started a proper list so we can fire it off to Seat CS. Copy and paste this adding your name if your light has suffered the same fate...

Yes fully agree the only problem is that CS will not officially look at the forum. [:@]

I showed the dealer the pics and not interested. [:@]
I pointed cs to the forum and not interested. [:@]
It's very shortsighted as any decent company wants to know what their customers are really thinking. Maybe they do have some wonks reading the feedback but it won't sway them.

The very best plan is for those affected to contact cs because if 8 do then they accept they have an issue:

Anyway here's the list I gleaned from the forum:

1 Steven M have you contacted CS yet? Phone on 0800 22 22 22 M-F 0830 - 1730.
2 Andy_I already contacted CS and earned a good will replacement with Cs and the dealer splitting the cost post 14 ;)
3 Dephead 2004 (me) in the Cs system but so far dealer say no.[:@]
4 Jonesy72 with a Leon sc post 13
5 metomurti on his 3rd but he is not SEAT UK post 9 :censored:

There is a guy on here who works for a dealer can he help? :1st:

Please can we all check our third brake light? I didn't notice mine until I went to look because of this forum (another great service from seatcupra .net) and then phone CS on 0800 22 22 22 M-F 0830 - 1730

I understand that CS aren't interested in the forum, but if we get enough names together I will draft a letter to CS containing all of our details that we can all send individually. With a bit of luck they will actually take notice.

The crack in my light doesn't bother me that much it's the attitude of the dealers and CS which pisses me off.

My third changed light was broken. I got rid of changing this. I live in Turkey. I think there is No solution for this. Because the material of the lamp does not change. It is a result of bad quality material and wrong design I think. This time I will try golf 7 lamp. They look same. And I have not read any problem about it. That one looks better quality.

You are absolutely correct on both fronts.

I have read my warranty info and it says nothing in the warranty or exclusions which would preclude a proper claim. Obviously iof someone has rear ended it then we wouldn't be having this conversation but when it self destructs that is another matter.

Actually that's a good idea until the weight of the problem gets noticed by SEAT UK CS. Better to stop it falling out as someone had on their SKODA. Cheeky to put a Golf 7 on as well. or a rude message about SEAT UK CS

Bugger !
Just noticed mine's gone:cry:: the car is now 1yr old and just under 12k.
Haven't really been at all pleased with the quality of finish....console creaks, chipping paintwork etc on this £23k car. Only the driveability and delightful engine compensates.
The crack is just in the same place as others, and guess I will just live with it as it's not really that visible.

You have a 3 year warranty and therefore have no need to put up with what is clearly not an isolated incident.

They will claim it is due to external influences. Well apart from Jedi mind tricks all cars is subject to external influences as soon as they start moving.

Can I urge you to contact SEAT CS UK on 0500 22 22 22 option 4 and register this as an issue. We need 8 people to get them to realise the problem should be addressed.

So far we have :
1 Steven M have you contacted CS yet? Phone on 0800 22 22 22 M-F 0830 - 1730.
2 Andy_I already contacted CS and earned a good will replacement with Cs and the dealer splitting the cost post 14
3 Dephead 2004 (me) in the Cs system but so far dealer say no. Matter now with CS and awaiting a report from the dealer
4 Jonesy72 with a Leon sc post 13
5 metomurti on his 3rd but he is not SEAT UK post 9
6 Pgcreature post 33

I had a look around my dealer's forecourt while waiting for some paperwork to go though for my new ST FR. I noticed one of the used 13 plate Leons on the forecourt had the beginnings of this stress-fracture in the plastic lens - in exactly the same place as the photos in this thread. I mentioned it to my dealer, he wasn't aware of a general issue but I'll definitely go back with a warranty claim if my brake light develops this fault.

As dephead2004 has mentioned, getting this reported to Seat is worthwhile, these failed lights are all cracking in the same place. Looks to be a minor design flaw which the light unit supplier (whoever they are) should be able to remedy if Seat feel the need to request this - i.e. if enough customers report the problem.

So SEAT UK came up trumps and agreed to replace the item under goodwill (not warranty- keep those reports going in). 100% down to SEAT UK. No dealer contribution.

Visit to Dealer today and mentioned that I'd like masking tape applied to the outside upper bodywork so that the special tool (like a T piece) wouldn't scratch the paint when they jam it in to release the clips as per the manual. 10 minute jobbie.

"Oh no need, we'll be going in from the inside"

After 1.5 hours I looked through the window to see the rear hatch trim out and, of course, access blocked by the inner skin to the rear lamp. No matter, techs know best.

I had asked to see the removed additional rear brake light. Well, it was quite mangled. All the clips were broken or missing and the light connector bent.

Now here's the interesting thing. The inner sections behind the crack were not damaged at all, just the front lens. Could see no signs of weakness.
