I just got my cover changed for getting my car tomorrow and told Esure about the sunroof............and it made no difference to the price I got the other day.

I asked about getting side skirts fitted and he said they won't insure it.

Do you think I should mention conv-pack and bluetooth?

I think some companies (and by the looks of it only a few) are fussy about things like Conv Pack and other factory fit options.

E-Sure is aimed at what they class 'low risk' drivers and obviosuly don't want to take on the additional risk of skirts etc, which in an insurance companies eyes increase the theft risk.

They actually wouldn't quote me on my Astra SRi a few years ago, I was 27 at the time... (But they would have covered a 1.8 Focus)

Now here's a thought:

You can now get standard (ie non sport) suspension as a zero cost factory option on the Reference Sport model.

I wonder how much the call centre bandits would charge for having that option?

You guys are all (pardon the expression) - lucky b*****ds! :D
For my 57' Leon FR TFSI my premium is....wait for it....£2100!!! (give or take a few pounds). :headhurt:
However, simply by putting my girlfriend on the policy as a named driver (not that she's gonna drive it ;) ) she takes it down by £750!!!

Policy is with Elephant who, when you do the online quote, give an extensive list of options. One of which is 'Bodykit - Optional Extra', which perfectly describes the BTCC 'Aero' kit i've had added without it sounding like i've popped down to the local scrapyard to find bits of old different colour cars to turn my car into a pikey-mobile.

They actually realise the difference between dealership-offered extras (which will be fitted properly and are specifically designed for the car) and other parts you can buy third-hand. This also in turn is better for them as they can easily replace any parts of the bodykit that are damaged in an accident simply by contacting SEAT.

Unsurprisingly you're not the first person to say that! lol

But its worth it to be able to drive, lets face it - one of the best cars on the road today. And as for having 200bhp at your disposal, well that's just bloody brilliant!

But you're still paying £1440 a year, much cheaper than the UK obviously but insurance as a whole is still a bloody rip-off!

Keep up the good work by the way, you squaddies are the only thing this country has to be proud of nowadays!

nog, you should count yourself lucky youve only been mugged.

some punters in this thread have been raped :scary:

:lol:You're right mate, I don't feel so bad having read how much some of these poor fellas have paid.

Mind you, I think we've probably all been there, it's just you forget as time goes on.

I bought my first car in 1992 for £100. It cost me £600 to insure that one. £600 was alot of money then.

'kinell, I'm sounding like me Grandad!

You must be pretty minted bozzy! If I were in your position I think I'd be driving a mobility scooter or similar until my no claims had built up a bit (assuming that's the reason your premiums are so high?)

That's dedication!

Ohhh, Lookie...

Am I the youngest owner of a MK2 Leon Cupra? Maybe, but my insurance premium will make some of you cry, here goes:

23, 5 years NCB, 6 points (Courtsey of 2 roadside cash points!)
Virgin Insurance REFUSED to quote - forcing me to change insurance company 2 months before I was due for re-newal after 3 long years of loyalty [:@].

Gave Adrian Flux a call and was quoted £770 with spoiler and skirts declaired also. The excess is high at £600 but it's mainly the 2 X SP30's I have that do that. Thats a lot better than the £1500 excess Virgin placed on my beezer Cupra.

Insurance is a total rip-off in this country anyway. You spend all that money covering your car, but if it's stolen, police only bother looking for the car if they can be bothered, and you have to claim on your policy, loose some NCD and pay excess. The same is true of an un-insured pikey :censored: hits you - you can't claim on a policy they have not got, so again, you foot the bill.

Not that I condone driving wthout insurance, given the high prices and the way many companys will use the smallest excuse not to pay out for a claim, it does make you wonder why you should bother with it all in the first place.

Rant over, merry xmas all :)
