could it be little end play, causing the piston to kiss the head,

compression doest look to bad to be honest,

between cylinder 1 and 2 its slightly lower in comparison to 3 and 4, could it be a possible blown head between 1 and 2 on the cylinders, not the water jacket,

in thinking whilst 1 is on its exhaust stroke, 2 is on its compression stroke, its losing compression between cylinders, so knocking/tapping due to pre or post ignition, ( thats if its cyl 1,3,4,2

had 2 mechanic there tonight both said it doesnt sound like bottom end knock but we can't rule it out till its pulled apart..

hes gonna do a oil engine flush and inspect the cams with a timing strobe and move the lifters along and inspect the springs as the last resort is take the head off...

if the bottom end needs a rebuild il just rebuild it.....if it isnt big end failure if its need new rods & bearings some Ina ones are going in..

Is there anyway of checking this bill without the engine coming apart...

We've done the compression test today and its

Cylinder 1 : 10 bar
Cylinder 2 : 10 bar
Cylinder 3 : 11.5 bar
Cylinder 4: 11.5 bar

yes
remove plugs,
tdc #1 and measure depth from a position on the cam cover on a long rod down to piston crown, then mark/measure that distance, and repeat on all the other cylinders getting them to their tdc and comparing that dimension

1 & 4 should be identical, as should 2 & 3 at their tdc point

not bent rod then

We've Re Done the measurements and there all the same down....the compression is fine and is within the requirements....
Now I was quite amazed with the little trick he did with a timing Strobe light and steph scope and a mark...Seems to be off key with the Piston Coming up to the head Which turns it too be head Related....

hes Stripping down the head to check the Valve Springs and to move the new Lifters along...And it isnt Piston Slap either and isnt burning oil and HeadGasket is Fine too...if the Noise is still there after the full head inspection ive told him to take the head off...

Only time will tell...O and to mention he took it for a 10mile drive to audi while having it moniterd and it didnt miss a beat and have any smoke or lose in performance...its a strange one...

seems i have a fatigue head theres abit of the head missing were the cam sits in...its on the chain side

Just been to have a look now and its were the cam sit in theres a tiny bit broken off...So small im not 100% on it being the problem..So he's gonna take the head off now and take it from there id rather rebuild this one than buy another as the 225 engines are well expensive all i need it top and bottom end//
