Depends on how much pennys i have left after ive sourced a new head... might get a full new head and rods from the states...

he took the head to audi to inspect it and they seem to think that this is normal were it is missing..il tru and get a picture up wen i can...

But with it bein so hot and the weekend he aint doing out to it...as hes gonna turn the engine buy hand and check the rods...

been even bondering just to buy a 2nd hand engine already built and just to drop it in...

Just weighing up parts it would be Rods,Oil Pump,Rod bearings,Headgasket,Headstuds & then the Head....Plus my mates labour....irrc around £500 for the lot...

You want a picture of the cyl walls and the head face eg were the headgasket sits/

ive desided to go for a 2nd hand engine and swap all my other new bits over on to it....Just to save time really as i go away in 3 weeks downsouth so i need the car..

Just gonna swap the New Oil And water pump,vvt tensioner,Thermastat,Timing belt kit,Headgasket & Headbolts on to the 2nd hand engine...So while its out ive bought a new clutch kit and new flywheels bolts....

Seems Easyer todo than rebuild this one...

i was mistaken i thought the head was off but it aint....im just fed up and just want it back...hes just taking the headbolts out as we speak....so il know for defo tonight.....

our moneys still on the head though..

Not sure if it is a typo but you can't reuse the head gasket and if you wanted to be a perfectionist the bolts also )

You'll need a transverse small port vvt head. Amk, ary, apx, bam, auq, aum, all but to name a few! Agu is a large port head though!

Just wondering have you changed the vvt cam chain tensioner.

Mine knocks quite a bit now so going to replace this on the weekend.

heads off and have 4 bent rods.bores look fine and so do pistons.so is it new bottom end or just rods and bearings?
