Food for thought anyway.

Any mileage on flipping the turbo round bill so the downpipe goes down the passenger side then redo the maf wiring if you run one?

People do it, but its got its issues that side with large induction pipework to turbo intake and space between turret and cyl head, brake servo etc...
tims ibiza is this way round. (underslung turbo)

I am considering remote mounted turbo position on new setup with turbo sat over g'box area, but its a lot of work and other stuff needs to move...

anythings possible

I can confirm what Bill is saying. The biggest headache, the only headache i have had with this conversion is getting the turbo mounted in the right place to allow room for the DP.

I can tell you from the pics of thee Boost factory one that its no good. Iam not saying its impossible, but your better of getting something that is proven.

I think iam the first to use a JBS equal length mani on a ibiza. Some one will prove me wrong though.

As for the photo's of mine, iam trying to recover them after my camera got totally soaked and broke.

As soon as i have them they will be on here.

Thats a shame hooch, just after all the work you've done if thats the case. Be shame to stop now with it.

Thanks for the info matt, i think possibly swapping the intake to the washer bottle side and downpipe to the header tank might have some mileage, but i'd need to have a good look atthe car and do some head scratching first.

Yesterday i made a start on the car again.

Pulled gearbox out.

Popped on new flywheel ( standard G60 ) and torqued up. Nice and shiney.

New clutch ready to go on.

Pulled the end cap of the gearbox

DSC00044.jpg

After a lot of mucking about with heat guns and lever bars we got 5 th gear of and casings split.

Couldn't have managed it with out the best tool in my tool box ( DAD )

DSC00045.jpg

old diff out.

DSC00046.jpg

My dad also brought his pillar drill to do the rivets. This made life very easy.

Check out my new 3/8 electric impact gun, awesome.

Then we had to shim the diff, so put it in the casing and bolted the casing together.

You then measure the float, on mine it was 0.9mm and it needs 0.4mm of pre tension so this meant 1.3mm shim.

Built box back up

DSC00052.jpg

Removed the standard parts from the driveshaft flanges as instructed too in the peloquin instructions.

Today i need to pop in diff seals and flanges, steam clean the box and refit.
I will update later on.

Yeah Bill i know, Made life very awkward for oil return and access to bottom nuts on equal length mani.

Nice car though. Shame about the crappy sump on it, one of the rubber baffle valves inside came loose and got sucked into the pickup pipe, this in turn caused the failure of the turbo.

Cheers mate.

Well as promised here is the latest, the pics aren't really relevant too gearbox build.

So i got the diff seals in place and steam cleaned the box. Refitted it and filled with oil.

DSC00056.jpg

So got it all finished, clutch felt heavy but nice. Went to pull it out the workshop and it was making a strange noise in 1st gear  It sounds like the reverse idler gear is touching 1st gear so iam gonna have to pull it back out again and strip it down. A bit gutted really as me and my dad took our time with it, but i hav missed something, will get some very detailed photo's when i do it so you lot can see exactly whats what.

Also clutch is juddering, it seems to have got better, and gonna see if it disappears but if it doesn't then its coming out too, and i will have too get a Spec stage 3. In this case i think its "you get what you pay for"

Here is a pic of the intercooler pipework on passenger side.

Drivers side.

Manifold from underneath with driveshaft out.

Dunno why?

Under the bonnet. I am not happy with DV piping, but this is getting changed.

I will expect the red plastic trunking near the turbo will melt.. I know anything like that on mine did.

single mass flywheel does make the box input shaft chatter more than dual did. is that your noise? also release bearings seem to rattle more on single mass until the pedal is depressed. (spec, helix, do the same)

No its definately in the box, when you move the gear stick forward when its in 1st it crunches, something to do with reverse idler wheel as it sits right next to 1st in the box.

Ya win some, ya lose some, just means another few hours work.

What are the spc clutches like Bill, do they judder at all, mine seems much better once warm, just dropped the wife of at work and i can live with the clutch i think.

Iam gonna have too, cause i aint got the money for a spec and the remap.

The Red trunking is coming off, i have already removed most of it, dunno why i put it on any way, Looks Cack.
