loving the car mate, saw it at ISTS, took a few photos, looks ten times better with the grill bit fitted now, i felt that was the only bit letting it down at the show, but good on you for making a really nice car mate, its good to be different!!
i have started to do a ''Bay tuck and smooth'' i have still loads of work to do...to start i have been mainly clearing the wings, spo that i could smooth it and get it raidy for paint..
i hate cluttered bays! all i ever see in leons is pipes everywhere. As stock i think its a horriable looking bay. I just want it to be a bit different, and try to follow what all the golf mk4 boys are doing. This is a very cheap way of making a bay look good IMO. although, its been a lot of work so far
Have you thought about making up some covers for each side of the engine bay .... would hide a multitude of sins and could be easily removable for day to day use and just clipped in for shows?
i have...but that is cheating....tbh what needs hiding on the sides now? the right hand side is 100% empty. absolutely nothing there. And teh left hand side only has the Header tank. Which tbh, as soon as i fing one small enough, will probably end up in the scuttle panel. Only other thing there is the PAS resevoir, and that will probably be moved as soon as i come up with a plausable way to do it. Its just a case of getting all the mass of vacuums sidied up somehow.
Well as yours is PD150 with a frontmout .. you have both forward front lower wing areas that are totally empty ... if you could find a way to run a filler neck and screw cap up ..... you could probably get the washer bottle in one side and the header tank on the other or does it need to be at the same height as the top of the engine?
I know for a fact there is enough space in that scuttle to mount N75 and the other one .... and probably all of the vac pipes too if you were patient enough.
cheers mate...the washer bottle is all dealt with. The N249 will be gone....not to sure bout the N75, i have to keep that do i? where exactly is that?
About the header tank...i have always presumed that it has to be above the height of the radiator? i may be wrong, i thought about as you say i have those empty holes in the wing at the front where i could fit them. But im not too sure.
i have now just totally removed the n249 and the SAI system. And loads of crap....in fact this is a box full of all teh stuff i have removed...
this is how it is looking now. I also have just polished the inlet! TBH it looks messy. But after its been cleaned...i just need to sort out teh cables...re-route a new vacuum for the brake servo and tidy a few other bits. Its going in to be painted on monday
wow jus came across this.. im becoming more of a fan of the euro look.. and this looks gr8..luv evrtthign u have done...somethign completely different to other leons.. well done.. will be keeping an eye on this thread
