No no.. of course he is going to dismantle the head light unit so he would have access, lol. I am just saying he won't have to cut out or remove the OEM reflector, but rather remove the bulb and place the projector lens inside it. A lot of people end up removing the reflector, widening the whole it leaves behind, and gluing the projector lens, but that's sort of a savage way of doing it and is not very pretty or feasible because then you'll have ruined that head light unit forever and have no chance of going back to stock if you ever think about it or if something goes wrong.

This is the OEM reflector:

This is supposedly how the outcome would look like:

As you can see, the projector lens is fit inside the original reflector, which is a much more professional way of doing it than cutting out the reflector and gluing the lens.

This is how the head light looks when you take out the reflector:

This is a very helpful thread I found about some one retrofitting projector lenses the old fashioned way into their Leon:

http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/showthread.php?30843-SEAT-Leon-2005-FX-R-amp-a-bit-of-carbon-fibre!

I hope you see what I mean now.

Yeah looks very interesting, make sure you get lots of pics up! Will be good to know about how good the performance of these will be too!

Sorry, must have been having one of those moments! The photos above are from the link I put on at the start of this thread and also the link you have put are also from Jon...the same thread photos.

Looking forward to the photos, and it will be interesting hoe far forwards the projectors sit within the existing reflector as I think this is why Jon cut his. I however won't have the problem as I got a second set of lights!

Tell you mate to hurry up as I want some photos! Try and get some through the build if you can!?!?

@rob, thank you, mate. I'm going to ask him to take pictures through the process if he can. That'd be very interesting.

@Willz, yes, I am aware of that. Hopefully he's not going to do that, as he told me. We'll see. As long as it works fine, the alignment is correct, and going back to stock at any time is do-able, I'm fine with it! :D

The kit comes with 6000K bulbs (D2S or something like that) so I am going to try it. If it has a blue hint in it, then I'll try the 4300K and the 5000K. Which ever looks whiter and like the Audis, Benzes, and Skodas, then I'll go for that. Thank you, Rob!

My friend called me this morning and he told me that he paid off the duties today but they'll only release the stuff tomorrow morning. Hopefully I'll give him my head lights after I am back from university and have him start the process. I cannot wait!

That's great news, mate. Best of luck and don't forget to take pictures of the process. Don't rush things and try to perfect everything, perhaps this can be added to your near-future DRL small-business. :D

I keep looking at cars with projectors lenses on the road and I keep praying for my retrofit to be done soon! I just cannot wait and am super excited for it. I sure hope it won't disappoint as it is the modification I've wanted to do since day one but was hesitant about it. Probably my next step would be 17" alloys with normal rather than run-flat or low-profile tires since they are very bad considering the crappy roads I drive on. I'll probably go for black BBS RS (if that's the model he has) rims soon. Gotta save up! :D

Hey guys!!

The guy finally got the kit from the customs, there were a real pain in the butt about it this time for some reason. Anyway, he's currently waiting for me to take my head light units out and give them to him. It's going to be one projector lens and one pure white ring in each head light unit (of course dipped beam). I've been thinking of adding another pure white ring to the main beam reflector, so it would look better, what do you guys think? I don't remember seeing a car with just one ring, therefore I believe two rings in each head light unit would look better. What do you think?

Personally I would go for no white rings to get the oem look.....
I only got LEDs in mine because I couldn't afford oem projectors!

Best look would be projectors only, no LEDs no rings =]

I wish that was possible, but unfortunately I believe that the ring comes already attacked to the lens or something like that so it'll have to be there. Should I just go for one ring only with the lens? What I could also do is have one ring installed and not plug it in.

Well, I guess I could just go for one ring in each head light unit and wait for your process to be done and see how it turns out. If two rings in each head light unit do look good and not too much of a resemblance between them and BMWs, then I might add an extra two.

By the time I get round to it you'll be 80!!!!

Hahaha.. well then he told me he'll install the rings and if I don't like them we can either just disable them or remove them later on, it won't be that hard. I gave him the head light units last night and will hopefully be receiving and installing them tonight. I asked him to kindly take pictures of the whole process from start to finish and I sure hope he doesn't ignore that request as to not "spill the beans" on how he does it or something. I told him it's for my fellow members on SEATcupra.net as they're interested in retrofitting lenses as well.

Let's just hope it works out well because I've wanted this for a very, very long time and it is finally happening. If it turns out to be disappointing, I honestly don't know what I'll do but I'll be so pissed I might even sell the damn car, lmao.
