Firstly, don't use silicone on the headlights....I've done a lot of research and I hear it's not good to use! Acrylic filler for sealing around the projectors (I believe that its the same as decorators chaulk!) , Butyl sealant for sticking the headlight lenses back on, and epoxy resin to hold all bolts in place etc.
Anyway, opening the projectors is easy as it's just a couple of screws in the corners. The metal plate with the kickup is literally a piece fo metal sandwiched between the two halves of the projector. All you need to do is take it out, use it as the template (i.e. for the right height etc.) and then insert your new one by using the coke/sprite etc. can, unless you have a small piece of sheet aluminium/stainless steel about.
Bi xenon projectors are a bit more tricky due to the shutter inside however it's similar to the above. Standard project lens ones are very easy to do.
P.S. if you do the above and break your lights don't blame me!
What does silicon do to the headlights?
My right projector's shutter got stuck down ( high beam ), what can I do to get it back to project low beam without opening the headlight again ?
