As above does anyone have any experience with those tire manufacturers?

Namely the eagle F1's, toyo proxes and the falken FK series?

the guy i spoke to today about my advice, said that Toyo's are trying to make a brand name for themselves by pricing themselves slightly above what they should be

Well on camskill the prices are as follows for 16's as fit on my car:

Falken FK452: £55 each
Toyo T1-R Proxes : £53 each
Goodyear GSD3 Eagle F1's: £57 each

So not too sure if the guy is correct, or maybe he is for some of the bigger diameter alloys. Check camskill out.

GSD3's for me, plenty of grip wet or dry, ive not compared them against the others though.

what make tires where on your car originally? Where they dunlops? I had dunlop SP2000 sports on my car and they were sort of weird. They worked best when it was neither cold nor warm :ban:

Shocking Michelin Pilot things. Low rolling resistance low grip high mileage things.

Are you replacing all 4?

Well my current rears are in perfect near new condition but im not sure how it would affect the cars handling with a different set of tires on the front. Would want all 4 to be the same but im not sure if my finances will allow as the rest of the damage is pricey.

All I know so far is that the garage where my car is gonna get repair will tell me that I need two new front tires. One is punctured and the other is worn. Not sure what to do for the best yet. Maybe I will get 1 new dunlop tire for the eman while and stick my spare tire on my other wheel so I have two frsh tires on the front till I have enough money for a full set of toyos or F1's.

Any thoughts on this?

The guy at Micheldever Tyres said to if you have a mix of tyre types keep Directional on the front and "sided?" tyres on the rear as it can screw the handling and give scary snap oversteer if you don't.

I guess I will find out when I rotate them:}

Thanks for the info. Will tell the garage to stick on some toyos or F1's on the front then, whichever tyre is cheaper will get the nod :)

I had Dunlop SP2000, and I agree they were kinda weird. And by "kinda weird", I really mean "oh **** I'm rapidly heading for that ditch and I'm too young to die and I want my mummy". Seriously crap tyres in the wet.

I tried a pair of Toyo T1Rs on the front. They were very good indeed, but only lasted 12,000 miles. I now have a pair of Goodyear GSD3s on the front. They're not quite as grippy as the Toyos (although still very good) - but the wear rate of the Goodyears is miles better. I reckon they're going to last at least 16,000 miles or so.

My rears are being replaced on Thursday, and it'll be GSD3s. I think they give very respectable performance and don't scrub away too quickly. Worth the extra money.

i have also heard put the more grippy tyres on the back - understeer is better than over steer ?

So its not just me then who thinks the dunlops are complete and utter dogs in the damp or wet!

Makes me feel better about my incident. Thats twice today now, recovery truck guy and accident repair geezer both said my sort of accident is very common! Now I just need to try and convince my mates that im not a bad driver lol.

F1s are good in the warm. In the cold/winter they are crap. I have F1s on the front of my Ibiza. I have Falkens on the back of my BMW and they seem pretty good (compared with the Pirelli PZero neros that were on there previously).
