There should always be pressure in the system, when the cars not running i look for circa 5 bar +, although just because it has good pressure doesn't mean there's sufficient refrigerant in it.

What I meant was if there was sufficient refrigerant in the system and the pressure switch allows the system to start and the compressor is faulty therefore not increasing pressures the control unit can flag the code saying the pressure switch is faulty.
