i think '5N0 035 342 C' should work, but this isn't for USB, it's only for IPOD !!

i might give it a try in the future.

It's for USB memory sticks or iPODs with the correct lead.

6J0 035 342 C is the exact unit from a USB enabled Ibiza. I know because I took the picture:

IMAG0101.jpg

The ones that have a B at the end of the p/n look different to the one in my car but may work the same apart from the shape being different.

The USB unit is supposed to be mounted above the cup holders like in the pictures.

One question, does a non USB Ibiza's head unit have a 'MEDIA' button to switch to listening to USB/iPOD?

We have the media button, but don't have the USB/IPOD option, we have to update the S.W at the dealer to enable it.

Also we couldn't find on ebay " 6J0 035 342 C " we found '5N0 035 342 C' which i believe they are the same but may be different in shape.

nice, now we need someone to try it first :p
i can't also see how it will fit, would it be in the glove box ?

They are fitted in the glovebox in VW's. But this is the exact same shape as the SEAT one from the pics so I imagine it can be fitted above the cupholders with the correct facsia

I was looking some more actually, and there are also 342 B's and and 341 B's floating around, I'm wondering which one of the 3 will work?

I have to wait till the end of the semester until I can try it :( . Anyone with a Leon or another VAG car with the RNS system and an Ibiza feel like trying this out? pretty please?

i'll try to ask the dealer about the price for ordering 6J0 035 342 C, and if it's not available, then i'll order the VW one's.

good man, keep us updated on how you get on and what they say.

with placement of the box, i wont bother changing the fascia, id rather have it tucked away - i plan to use this for an external hard drive full of music and left out of view

If it works I will want the new fascia as my music is on my iphone and I don't want my phone tucked away somewhere while I'm driving

Thanks:)! Hope you and your car are OK

I did. It costs 274€ here in Finland. [:@]

The B version is no longer available and according to ETKA the C version is compatible. There is supposedly a D version too, but it is not backwards compatible with older cars (2010) I was told.

For the 274€ I think I'm going for a new head unit if I need the USB + Ipod.
Are there any 3rd party head units that are compatible with the stock wheel remote?

Wow, nice and expensive.

As for head units and remote control, I think you'll need some sort of adapter to make it work for most of then (I think canbus, correct me If I'm wrong?). Have a search around this and the leon forum I think a bunch of ppl went the aftermarket way.

It's something like this http://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/conn...-leon-altea-stalk-control-adaptor-p-8841.html that makes an aftermarket HU work with the existing controls.

The existing wiring loom plugs into one end and the little box of tricks decodes the can bus signal and provides the HU with remote signal. It also provides Nav units with a speed signal, reverse signal (for rear view camera) and park brake signal (so dvds dont play whilst moving).

Yeah, I already found a few workarounds, one of them being the adapter.

I think I'll go for the aftermarket with an adapter.

found this product on amazon.de, and sent the company an email asking if the ID-3 tagging works on MK5 radio, and they confirmed it should work normally.

http://www.arcs-automotive.de/home/...on=com_zoo&view=item&category_id=9&item_id=36

"Hello,
the interface fits in evey original radio in the Seat Ibiza. The Id3-tags will be shown if the radio generally supports this function in the changer-mode. The interface works as well with the steering wheel controls."

Did they mention how much this little gadget costs? I'm also wondering how this would work with an iPhone or any iPod really because it says it only supports up to 4GB of music on its USB port... I hope they don't mean that the iPods/iPhone is only AUX compatible...

If this is cheaper than the OEM unit we may have a winner :D

They didn't mention in their official site anything about the IPOD !! However on amazon they said it supports IPOD.

It's way cheaper than anything EUR 57,98 ;)

take a closer look at the first paragraph,

"...Listen to your MP3 and WAV files in their car - whether from a USB stick, SD card, iPod or iPhone."

That also why I'm wondering about the iPod, because they don't talk about supporting it in the USB section which probably means it's AUX support?

And yeah that price really is great compared to any other option we've brought up here :)

I'll be suprised if this works with full on-screen support of song names, artists, file browsing etc.

Whose going to try it? And why is it for sale only in germany? I cant find it on any english website?
