I ordered NGK BKR7EIX plugs mate, from Opie Oils. I ordered up a new pollen filter too as every time I use the aircon the inside of my car smells like wet dog.

Sorry, didn't answer a question from your previous post - yes I've left the N249 electrically connected. Originally I just ran a bit of 4mm ID vac hose from intake mani to the DV but when I undid the bypass last time I chopped the 4mm hose down so as just to go from the mani to the N249, then used 5mm hose from N249 to DV. Right now I've got a 90 degree hose joiner linking the 4mm and 5mm hoses together, N249 still wired in to the loom tho.

That hose you gave a link too at least looks the same as the stuff I have albeit in different colour. What internal diameter did you use? Like I said before, I used 4mm but maybe if it's not that the hose is too flimsy and collapsing under vacuum it could be that that's not wide enough...

Yeah boost gauge would be nice, just not a fan of pillar pods and don't fancy losing vents...

Oh, one small thing to report - used the Revo SPS switch thing I got free as part of the pre-christmas special offer to check what settings the map was currently set to. I found it was:

Boost - 6
Timing - 2
Fuel - 8

Maybe someone else with Revo stage 1 on a mk1 LCR can tell me if those can safely be pushed up any, going by what the SPS user guide says I should be able to push timing up as far as about 7 (that's the setting for use with V-power fuel anyway) so I upped it to 4 for now, will revisit this once I get a chance to do some logging...

I used 4mm hose.

Is it possible to put a gauge panel in the dash beside the stereo? Looks like it may be trickier on a Leon than it would a Bora/Golf.

I read somewhere that Revo recommended Boost - 6 and Timing - 2 for a stage 1 car although Timing could be set at 4 if using a good fuel like V-Power.

We can log it first and see how happy it is with those settings and if there are no complaints we can increase and log again until we find the sweet spot :)

Not sure there's room beside the stereo, the center console isn't much wider than a standard DIN-sized stereo anyway. I'll maybe have a good look around online for gauge mounting options but tbh I don't feel the need to have a permanent boost gauge anyway, if Torque can be sorted out to give an accurate reading then I'll use that as I can mount my phone on the dash with the satnav/phone cradle.

Yeah the SPS guide gives some useful info on tweaking the settings. You ok to install the SPS software on your laptop mate? No problem if not, what I'll do then instead is set up some programs on the various settings on the switch and change them that way.

Yeah it's 4mm hose I used to start with. Still got a few lengths of various vac hose around, I'll chuck em in the boot and take them out on Sunday, that way it'll be easy to see what my stuff is like compared to your Samco stuff.

Yeah you can install the software on my laptop, not a problem :)

Cool, sure we will get it all sorted. Look forward to seeing the remap.

Nice one, cheers mate :)

Small update, had a quick run in the car last night after pushing the timing up from 2 to 4. Could just be my imagination but I'd swear the car feels a little quicker and more responsive off-boost. Could that be right enough?

Just use vagcom mate and keep an eye on whats going on when your tweaking the map. I spoke to revo about the timing settings, they said that if the car will run more then 7 then run it, just keep an eye out for any hesitation. I'm running timing 8 on revo stage 2:D

i run Boost 7 and Timing 5 on my stage 2 revo map

this info may be of use to you from my tuner :D

We will set the Revo ignition timing setting to ensure that the ECU’s knock correction is not excessive. You can plug in an SPS and increase the Revo timing number but all that the ECU will do is increase the ignition ‘correction value’ which is not good, as you will often feel that the car is not as smooth sitting on large correction values - and this is certainly not the way to tune

I would be cautious suggesting that you increase the Revo boost setting further, as in our experience the LCR K04 turbo is not the most reliable when being pushed hard/aggressive for prolonged time periods – if you set the boost to say 9 for the most aggressive tune, you would need to accept that the life of the turbo may well reduce rapidly as we have seen happen on other LCR’s.

This is why you should use vagcom, I increased my timing using vagcom and I dont get excessive correction factors. As long as you do it right you'll be fine, my car is running great. Have a play, if the correction values are excessive or the car doesnt feel right put the settings back to how they were tuned:)

We had a wee logging session yesterday afternoon using the following settings: -

Boost - 6
Timing - 4
Fuel - 8

I'm sure once 8bit's had a chance to graph them up and make them look nice he'll post them up :)

Cheers for the input folks.

Cheers once again to Yohan for the logging :) Spent a little time looking at the graphs last night but was too knackered to make a lot of sense of them (who knew that shopping for engagement rings was such a tough job!) so will try and post them tonight.

One thing I did notice when doing runs was that there seemed to be a little hesitation at around 3500rpm or so. Not sure if this happened before changing the DV spring from green to yellow though but certainly after changing it I noticed the slight blip in acceleration. Can't see anything in the CFs around that area of RPM, nor in boost but it shows up in the block 120 torque reading.

I'll post the logs in the Revo section too, other things I noticed are that EGTs are significantly lower than stock, fuelling is slightly rich (which will explain the EGTs) and it seems to be boosting a little over request. Maybe I need to knock back the Fuel setting on the SPS a touch, will see what Revo say - in the meantime tho, anyone else with Revo (stage 1 ideally) able to tell me what they run the Fuel setting at?

Oh, forgot to say - just unconfirmed, VAGCOM-calculated figures but from MAF readings I'm looking at around 275bhp and block 120 shows torque peaking at about 296lb/ft.

RR day in Feb will confirm but if I'm in that ballpark for a stage 1 map I'll be chuffed with that :)

Ah OK, cheers for that - I had seen that chart but assumed since it was letting me change it "live" (as in, while the laptop was plugged in via the SPS switch) then maybe that wasn't the case any more. Anyway, here are the logs, see next post...

So I wanted to see if there was any difference between the yellow and green spring in the DV, so the first two were run with the original green spring, logging CF's and boost, then lambdas, injector timings and MAF:

Bit hard to see differences in columns of numbers so I'll try and plot these out on graphs, but that'll be tomorrow. What is clear though is that the actual lambda values are a touch below the requested, indicating that the fuelling is maybe a little on the rich side. I know some remaps do run a little richer than stock, just not sure how much.

Break for post character limit...

I'll slice and dice some of this into graphs and/or more meaningful stuff (like proper AFRs, N75 and injector duty cycles, derived torque and power curves) but that's the raw logs for now.

Ah OK, cheers for that - I had seen that chart but assumed since it was letting me change it "live" (as in, while the laptop was plugged in via the SPS switch) then maybe that wasn't the case any more. Anyway, here are the logs, see next post...

Once you've changed it mate if you enquire on the ecu settings again it shouldnt have changed

Just did a quick conversion and plot of the torque figures into bhp, and a graph. Happy with this, especially for a stage 1 map on stock exhaust and SMICs :)

Ah ok, it was showing 8 on the ECU when I queried it, just left that one as it was. I'll post these in Revo and see if they reckon the fuelling is about what they expect.

On the subject of the graph again, you can see where I was on about feeling a slight hesitation, shows up about 3720 RPM, a smaller one at 5200 and a bigger one again at 6000. Will see if I can see anything in the other logs to give a clue on this.
