You running K03s? IIRC Nicks was running around 26psi and his turbo went pop!

Anbody know what happend to nick?

Yeah was Nicks that was mapped hard at jabba and then he had an issue with the n249 or something i remember and was hitting 26psi.. He then kept racing everything and blew it in a week or 2 i believe!

He now has a Lotus Elise and either has a 1.8t or type r conversion planned. That was when i last looked on our local cruise forum anyway :)

i didnt ask you ;)

Lol nope mate i had vag com cable but couldnt get it to work on the 3 laptops i borrowed from work :s

Feels nice and fast and smooth though so im happy even if the guage does overread slightly.. which i dont think it does as always worked fine on standard boost and measures 5 in limp mode lol

right, this has happened a couple of times now, and regardless of how nice it is to say that ma ibiza can boost at 21 psi, i am concerned at what this is doing to the turbo..

i had a boost guage fitted about 2 weeks ago, 1st n 2nd gear, boosts about 12-14psi, 3rd and 4th about 14-17psi and 5th anywhere between 12 and 21psi..

although in 5th, it was only boosting as high as 21 as soon as i changed gear, it did still run at 18-19psi afterwards...

also, i have noticed that occassionally at 2-3k revs in 3rd or 4th, under load, it boosts at ~14psi, then vacuums -20, then boosts again, could this be a boost leak?

my VAGCOM doesn't like ma laptop, anyone offer any advise?

This sounds to us like a good example of protection map useage. You are either missing fuel or pulling excessive amounts of timing. The latter is easy to check using vag com on channel 020. The fueling is a little harder to log on the 512 box and requires a wideband hook up. The later 1meg ecu has access to lambda on channel 031. Both of these would describe the reason for your boost dropping in and out.

Please feel free to give us a call. This is something we often see and can be easily rectified.

on the back of this folks.. just been for a bit of a spool on some private land of course.. 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th boosted fine, changed to 5th into about 4k revs, once i got to 4900 boost cut out, limp mode cut in, and it stayed at limp mode (5psi reading on boost guage) until i turned my ignition off.. could this be the n75 thats fooked??

also.. now i think about it.. on a few occasions over the last few months since i got the car i've noticed the boost cutting out at about the same kinda rev's in other gears.. boost guage will read high psi (12-18) then it vacuum's at about 10 and 5secs later it boosts again... boost leak maybe??

any idea's folks cos its startin to get a tad bit nippy... lol

Overboost under sustained load. Possible N75 or actuator cranked too much?

Have you had it vag com'd? Positive deviation code?

when i got the car i ran vag com on it but it showed up nothing at all.. not even the outside temp sensor and that was reading 58degrees so i was a bit reluctant to use it again.. just cos i dunno if i was using it properly.. lol

will prob give it another bash tho.. i see people posting up logs on here.. is that what i'll need to do? if so i've not a clue how to..

i have a receipt from when i bought the car, showing an "ECU Repair" and an "ECU Upgrade" from Autoservices in Hartlepool..

car doesn't really run the power figure of a stage 1 map tho.. when i got the car it was running 177bhp but torque was up to 204ft.lb torque..

my local VAG tuning specialists(Star Performance) had it on the rollers before i got it and it was described as having a "mild remap" on it..
