21psi????

right, this has happened a couple of times now, and regardless of how nice it is to say that ma ibiza can boost at 21 psi, i am concerned at what this is doing to the turbo..

i had a boost guage fitted about 2 weeks ago, 1st n 2nd gear, boosts about 12-14psi, 3rd and 4th about 14-17psi and 5th anywhere between 12 and 21psi..

although in 5th, it was only boosting as high as 21 as soon as i changed gear, it did still run at 18-19psi afterwards...

also, i have noticed that occassionally at 2-3k revs in 3rd or 4th, under load, it boosts at ~14psi, then vacuums -20, then boosts again, could this be a boost leak?

my VAGCOM doesn't like ma laptop, anyone offer any advise?

try to monitor the boost gauge as safely as possible and you'll see that it drops off to anywhere between 10-15psi very soon after spiking to 21ish. so no need to worry, presuming you still have the stock turbo, they only cost about 50quid anyway but loads of people have this and its fine

yea I got 21 and even seen 22 psi before. BUT some have told me the boost guage couldnt be reading it right maybe

im guessing you have a remap? if so then 21 psi is fine....mine can spike at 24 psi at times and mostly 21/22 psi. as for the erratic boost this could well be your n75 valve!

REVO remaps will typically spike 21PSi and hold 19/20.... Stage 2 is slightly lower, but will hold longer....

My k03s revo stg2 peaks around 21psi then slowy drops off 14psi at the redline and holds it there, is that right?

Mine seems to peak about 25psi and hold 19psi

Yeh ive got k03s peaks around 18 then holds at around 14-15 to reline

26 PSI is quite high for a standard turbo? What map and timing settings do you run?

Only running 26PSI on the IHI....

Its a customer jabba map and timing is advanced quite alot not sure on the figures tho

I will double check it, Gauage only goes up to 21psi I'm estimating by how much the needle goes past 21

But 250 Bhp and 300Lbs of torque from a k03s means it needs to be boosting high

If you have a Halfords near by, they do a cheapo £20 30psi and vac gauge. Might be worth getting it to find out, then keep as a spare? lol

The torque figure is a bit higher than i would expect, but then so is the BHP on a K03s?

I cant see it holding 16/17psi @ redline either more like 13/14 max.

Its a stupid small turbo so will never hold boost that long without seriously effecting the longevity of it.

Mine would hold 2040 at the line = 15psi max. I can't see 16/17 being accurate.

Boost gauge stops reading at 20 PSI the needles goes about 3 psi past this but this is as far as the boost gauage allows it to go so its prob about 24psi and at the red line it is about 15psi
