Hi All.
I'm looking for some advice please.
At the end of January 2025, I bought a 2024 Cupra Leon 1.5TSI V1 with a manual gearbox.
The car only has 2K miles on it. Within about 3 weeks of bringing the car home, it started crunching into 2nd gear, no matter how you try to shift.
I took it straight to my local Cupra dealer and asked if they could have a look for me. They took it for one test drive and told me it was a characteristic of the gearbox oil being thick when cold. They advised I carry on driving, but bring it back if it continued in the warmer weather for them to have a more thorough investigation.
So I did exactly that. I waited until the weather was 20⁰C+ and it still crunches into second. I took it back, and again they just drove it for about 10mins and told me it's because of the cold gearbox oil.
I'm getting frustrated now, because 20⁰C is not cold for a car, and the crunch does not improve even after several hours of continuous driving, but they keep telling me the same thing.
I've reached out now to the Cupra dealer that I actually bought the car from. I sent them an email explaining the issue, which I never heard back about. I called them to follow up and now they are avoiding my calls.
Does anyone else have a manual gearbox? And can you tell me if yours does the same, please? It's a very harsh crunch which you can both feel and hear.
My next option is central Cupra customer services.
Thank you!
