Quite a big pitfull with leasing that

My current car is a PCP, I spoke to the dealer direct that the leasing company deal with. They told me 8-12 weeks from order.

Either way I'm gonna be about 6 weeks now I think without a car as the actual delivery is more like 18 weeks from order.

Not sure what Seat were thinking with the Leon facelift? Maybe VW didn't like Seat having such a good looking car... Personally I prefer the original Mk3 design. New grille makes the FR & Cupra look like the previous boring SE trim level and the new LED's don't suit the car. I do like the optional black 5 spoke (star shaped) wheels tho. Not a fan of the gloss black interior plastics or the Electric handbrake either, but the standard handbrake on our pre-facelift Mk3 Fr failed after 18 months resulting in tailgate damage, SEAT fitted a new cable free of charge, but didn't offer to cover the tailgate repairs.

Sadly my Wife wanted to change the Leon for the Ateca Xcellence, so we are saying farewell to our Leon this week, I'm gutted tbh, I was hoping to swap the Ibiza Toca that we also own in order to keep the Leon, but the Ibiza has depreciated into negative equity, so it would be too expensive :(

Finally managed to get through to someone who can give me an actual date. Not good news....

My order was placed with Seat on 4th April. Dealer via lease company told me the current lead time was 8 - 12 weeks.

So after a chat with Seat today they have confirmed a non Cupra Leon has roughly a 12 weeks wait from order to delivery. A Cupra has an additional 4 weeks lead time on build and delivery.

So on my actual order, I have a potential build week of 29. This equates to w/c 17th July. he stressed this isn't confirmed and there is a good chance it could be pushed back.

He said assuming you do get that build week you are looking at a minimum of 4 weeks from build to delivery.

Therefore, I'm mid to late August for delivery or 16 to 18 weeks. Bugger. esp given my current car goes back in a couple of weeks...

Further update from the SEAT uk today to the lease companies - this is the current lead times as of this morning:

so 17 weeks now on a Cupra

Does anyone know when the dealers register the cars? Do they register them the day you pick them up? They said they would let me choose my registration from a list and haven't called yet my car is allegedly built

Where are the Leon FRs made?

My dealer says our car is built and has a place on the Brooklands car transporter. Just checked on that boat and it's on its way from Barcelona to Antwerp, arriving tomorrow. I am guessing our car will be loaded on at Antwerp?

Think mine was built in Barcelona?? Sure that's what the cheesy email from seat said anyway.

I'm with you on that. I was delighted that my FR was going to be a facelift, but now I'd have preferred the pre-facelift. The front end in particular was more muscular. I much preferred the old FR seats with the leather side bolster and the shiny black trim offers little except as a dust-magnet. I was excited about the 8" screen, but they haven't made the most of it and the old one would have been fine.

I'm getting used to the auto handbrake though.

They are from Barcelona, had this exercise in Dec for my new Ibiza SC FR, when I tracked the ship (City of Oslo) from Barcelona to the English channel over the course of several days. It was oh so painful....and the ship moves oh so slowly....and to compound my misery, they went past Port or Sheerness (where it gets dropped off), went to Emden (I think) in Germany, before coming back to UK..to drop off my car :censored:

It took only 3 working days for my dealer to register, prep and deliver the car to me though, once it was offloaded the ship.

How did you find out which ship it was on and then tracked it?

Well I leased the vehicle from (am I allowed to say who on the forum?) and they started keeping in touch closer to the delivery date, they told me which ship it's booked on, and it's likely (if no delays) arrival date. You just have to go to Maritime traffic or similar to find out the details of the ship, it's position, current speed etc. It's really cool. I get extra annoyed when I see 0 knots speed, eg..it's docked somewhere, probably offloading cars.. Eg..now that very same ship is in Finland :)...

*This is only tracking the ship once the car is loaded on it, they didn't give me option to track it on the production line etc...only gave me build week.

That's interesting to know.

Just rang Seat. Build date provisionally 2nd week of June, delivery mid July but that could change. Was initially old May. Might be forced to pull out, I need a car asap.

I've never seen anyone told not to name leasing companies

Ah well in that case, I used Vertu Cars to lease (part of Bristol Street Motors). I did have a 3 week delay, which at first they did not give any info on why this was, I went to the configurator and surprise...no more Alor Blue as an option colour on Ibiza.

I enquired if this was the reason, they said yes this was the reason for the delay, they stopped doing the colour on factory build cars, however as the factory had to fufill custom/customer orders already put through, they had to get the paint elsewhere (eg..I'm guessing the Leon production line, at that time, still did Alor Blue). Whether this was true or not, who knows...

I would use Vertu Cars again though for my next car (if good deals of course).

I ordered mine end Aug, suppose to get it mid Nov, but got it early Dec in the end.

Got to say I disagree and love the fact that mine is the facelift. I love the led foglights with the smaller profile and the headlights do appear to be slightly better than my previous one on my ore facelift we dynamic tech. I also love the fact that the running lights also double up as the indicator as opposed to having a separate bulb.

Electronic handbrake took a but if getting used to but it's the way most cars are going now so just had to bite the bullet. Used to it now though. I also love the quirky features such as the colour changing ambient lighting although the footwell lights are always white which is a little upsetting.

The newer 18 inch multispoke performance wheels are also very nice and really suit the car I think.
