1,6 TDI turbo upgrade DARKSIDE

Hey people, as noone in denmark has currently tried the 1,6 turbo upgrade from darkside, i made a deal with a tuner to make mine a project car.

Ive already had it stage 1 remapped EGR deleted and fitted the darkside FMIC, and we want to make a DPF delete and fit the turbo upgrade to target 180ish bhp.

I know someone in here from spain had made something similar, but would be nice to hear your thoughts about this project and expiriences, should you have some

I just met up with the tuner and went for a spin in his Altea 2,0 TDI 140..

It were pushing around 340 bhp pretty impressive

Actually I just learned, this is not a Darkside turbo..

Im not sure which one it is.. but the car will have 200-220 bhp 400 nm after the custom remap.

think ill have to upgrade my clutch

Yeah they actually just did a turbo upgrade on a altea 1,9.. making 340 bhp lol

Looking forward to this! But 200bhp out of the 1.6 diesel, are you sure?

Anymore details of the turbo and work planned?

Ill post it soon its a 2,0 turbo not sure which one exactly, but it should be a direct fit except the oil feed.. thus will make a custom one.

and yes im positive it will be minimum 200 bhp.. possibly 220.

The torque will be limited to 400 nm.. to make it last

Fair play anywhere close to 200bhp/400nm would be a great result. The main disappointment I had when buying the car was that the 2.0tdi was not out at the time, would have liked that engine.

Ok work started yesterday.. DPF removed, turbo installed, were currently custom mapping the car

First try will be a mild tune, to see how it works

First custom remap is done.. so far it does 0-100 kmh easyli in 7 seconds

I just did try it

The result is crazy, does 0-100 easy 7 sec. Which on paper is faster than the ibiza cupra i think

It pulls like a mad all the way to 200

Not quite, faster than pre-facelift Cupra but slower than facelift witch does 0-100km/h in 6.9s officially and much less unofficially . But not bad for a 1.6tdi. Interresting to see how long the engine can take the abuse.

Yeah this is the light map.. i think its around 180 bhp now, but we didnt get a dyno yet.

Well it feels like the turbo just can keep pulling, it spools excellent and sounds good..

the acceleration on highway from 100-200 kmh is very very tight.

Nowhere does it feel like the turbo runs out of air, its around 3 times the size of std turbo.

They say theres another 50 bhp easy to be had, but we wanna see how it holds up

The turbo is a 2,0 CR177.

it should give up to 220-230 hp of air

the mild map were rolled to:

186hp / 357 nm so far

were about to make a more agressive map for the car.

software is made from WD tuning Denmark, you will see more from them in the future
